Hello everyone, I've been lurking here for about six months and figured it was time to introduce myself. I live in Alberta, Canada (just North of Calgary). I'm a forty something single dad of three older kids and work as an industrial painter at a fabrication shop (love access to all the tools a hot rodder could use!). If it's got wheels I'm interested, but I'm real passionate about some cars in particular. Oddly enough I love 74-78 Mustang IIs (I own 9 and I'm actively restoring/modifying several of them...just don't ask me to cut them up for suspension pieces! ) I'm really here because of my other love, a '31 Ford 2 door sedan..a true field car that's gonna take a lot of time but I'm sure I'll learn lots along the way. Currently I'm gathering bits and pieces for it. No hard fast rules for me but I'm working on building an old time hot rod that's easy on budget and fun/safe to drive. Plans/Parts so far: fenderless, chop 3"-4" powered by a '36 Ford flathead sitting on a modified '31 Oldsmobile frame '39 Ford front axle (keeping the wide 5s!), split wishbones with spring behind '37 Ford rear with '39 juice brake backing plates, '37 spring and radius rods Another future project is a '52 Mercury pickup. I bought it when I was 13 for $25, built my first engine for it (302) and cruised it around the farm. Life (wife, career, kids) happened and it languished at my parent's place for years until it was sold. Last week I find out a friend of mine picked it up and is going to give it to me! (I guess he was tired of hearing me moan about selling it some 15 years ago) A true friend. This forum has been a wealth of information and ideas, I look forward to watching as the other members' projects evolve and hope to share when I can. Francis "31 Tudoor"
Canadians! I remember when U.S. rodders were sucking every car they could out of here because their buck was worth $1.33 . Seems not that the greenback has deflated a lot of them are staying on the udder side of 54'40. Glad to see another Cajin Rodder.
