Hi all, I'm a self employed auto electrician in Brisbane's outer north. Just joined the forum looking for inspiration for my next car. I've had a few mdernish classics, (two early 70's Holden LJ Toranas; 1966 Holden HR Premier Sedan; 1964 N320 Datsun pick up; 1973 Datsun 1200 ute for the Aussie readers). I've also resto-modded a 1969 Honda CD175 bike as a bit of a tribute to one my dad had when i was a kid and used to sit on making broom broom noises. Having started my own business this year the belt tightening left me with no real project to play with in the garage, but as the money starts to comne back I've decided that a mid 40's to mid 50's custom is what I would like. I'd say that my preference would be from the GM stable, although the two vehicles currently in the family fleet are Ford products, both of which I am really happy with. Originally I was leaning towards a Holden 48/215 (FX), but after seeing some of the customs on the H.A.M.B. I'm swayed to some good ol' American excess, the dream being a Pontiac Silver Streak like the one belonging to speters on this board. Thanks for reading and I look forward to lots of inspiration and help once a project follows me home!
Good day mate from East Texas theres a holden concept car that I have seen that I thought was about a cool as it gets the maroon holden I think that gm did it for Australia way way cool !!
Welcome from the cultural center of the universe, Oklahoma. These days, almost anything from the 50's makes a good base for a custom.
Thanks guys. Nailhead Terry, the concept is called Efijy, with the styling based on the FJ Holden produced in the mid 50s ( my brother has one) That car is just awesome in the flesh and deserved all the acclaim it received, especially as it was built by Holden employees on a voluntary basis with a budget of $A200k IIRC.
