No I don't, I am absolutely new to the hot rod scene. Just got my car 6 weeks ago, still lots and lots of work to do!

Hey dutch deuce, thanks for the reply. I joined a few years ago but never did anything with it. Only just started on this forum, this was the reason for the introduction. The car in the avatar is my car. I received it last november from California. Started to tear it down straight away, as the mechanics need a complete overhaul.(had a 350 chebby and a turbo 400 combo) Now I'm going with a 392 hemi and a 5 speed TKO from Keisler. The car is not road legal yet. Has no interior, gl*** or electrics.Build up pictures will follow during the year. Where are you in Holland?

    Thanks Eric.
The plymouth body is channeled on a z'ed Caprice he**** ch***is.
Drivetrain is the 305/700R4 the he**** came with.
So, nothing to write home about.
But it's reliable and gets it moving with reasonable gas milage and parts are easy to get if needed. And we made it look nice.

I would have loved to keep it all mopar (I envy you for the Hemi;)) if i would have known before where this project was heading, a baby hemi (firepower or red ram) with an O/D 4 speed , A833OD or something like that would have been the choice....

    But with the caprice ch***is it's a ******* anyhow:D
Car is in Heerlen till it's finished and then i need to find a spot close to Amsterdam.
So all hints later this year where to find some affordable shelter for the Plymouth are welcome.

Very clean engine bay! Now that looks good. I may know someone here in the Haarlem area where you can store it , or temporarily at my place is always an option. Just let me know... When your car is back in Amsterdam, I'd definitely want to see the car up close.

Thanks a lot the kind words and for the offer - I will take you on it, when the time has come.
I can send you a pm before i'll drive down to Heerlen from Amsterdam the next time (engine will get started the 1st time) just come along - it will be a saturday.
Also would love to see your plymouth.
And i think we know somebody in common. Mark (the guy who builds the great crazy soapboxes and has the model A ford sedan project etc.) told me a week before Christmas at the cruise inn, that a friend of his has gotten a 41 Plymouthy coupe...so i think he must have meant you...

Send a pm when you're heading up north. The only Mark I know is the guy that will paint my car...I think this is someone different to the guy you mean. Just let me know when you want to see "car in progress, you're always welcome.

  17. Hello Eric

I'm living in/on the island Goeree Overflakkee, 15 km south of Hellevoetsluis.
Nice engine your using, my 39 Mercury will have a 331 Chrysler Hemi (found a complete 54 Imperial a few years ago in Heerhugowaard)
Thinkfink: Is Marc the guy who owns a 40 Mercury and a 30 Model A ??

Do you have the 331 installed yet? Or still working on frame/eng?Transmission? Send pics if you have any. Nice to see there are so many Dutch guys in the HAMB family!!

  19. The complete engine and trans are still in the Chrysler ch***is and will go under the Mercury because that ch***is is completely rotten. (and i can use the wheels, brakes etc. for one of my 32 Fords) :D
Ch***is is already shortened to 114 Inch wheelbase.

yep, that's the Marc i mean...so there must be another 41 Plymouth in Holland despite Eric's and mine (by the way - what happened to the one Von Skip imported - the chopped one with the Buick headlights? Is it still in the country, anyone knows)

BTW...Dutch Deuce. You got an impressive collection of cars. Any shots of the mercury you are willing to share?
I remember when it was on sale at marktplaats...It almolst killed me to see the car at the time. I always wanted a Ford or Mercury prewar fat fender coupe but could not find an affordable one at the time i looked....so I ended up buying my Plymouth (South African with the steering wheel on the right side for a real good price and state).
Two weeks after I bought the Plymouth, the 39 coupe mercury showed up that you bought...and I had my money in the Plymouth....AAARRGH:eek:...later Eric Huffenreuther (pretty sure you know him and his chopped Buick) told me it ended up with you and that it was in a pretty rough state.
And i still wonder what got out of it...and now with your Chrysler story, you make me even more curious....

What happened to von skips i don't know, but it will be fun to find out who the other 1941 Plymouth owner is. With a few more cars we start our own little club! LOL. Still waiting on some pics from Dutch Deuce, he's made me curious with regards to his build up.

    Thinkfink, PM me anytime
