Hi guys, Having moved from France to the US only a few years ago, I am fairly new to the hot rod world. I picked up my first project a little over a year ago and I have been hooked since then. I need to love what I drive, and therefore do not own a "normal" car. My projects are my daily drivers so I have to make sure that at least one of them is running at all times, which can be challenging... I've been learning alone so far, using books and videos and informations from the internet. I've been lurking on this forum a lot and it has been of tremendous help so I decided that it would be great to become a member. Thank you so much to all of you for sharing your knowledge and experience and for having me on board! Julien
Hi Julien Welcome to HAMB & Hawaii. I moved to Hawaii 20+ years ago from Sweden and I've been on HAMB since 2011...It's very contagious! I was president for a Mopar Club here in Hawaii for 10 years... And when I finally called it quits it gave me room to get in to Hot Rods... Are You working on a Project..? Take Care & See You around?! Aloha Tommy
Thanks again for welcoming me, guys! Hemishovel, How did you like HI and where in France does your sister-in-law live? I'm from Bordeaux, wine country ;-) Hi Tommy, really cool to find another member on the island! That would be cool to meet sometime (I live in Kaimuki). I will send you a PM with my phone number. I just checked your photo albums. That's some cool rides you've got! I'm currently working on my 1960 F100 with a 390 FE. This is my first build The block is now at the machine shop (Ted's) to be resurfaced so I can rebuild it. The way the previous owner built it was too radical to use the car on a regular basis (Crower cam 238/248 @ .050 with 108 LSA and close to 11:1 CR). I'm aiming for a CR in the low 9's and a Comp Cam 268h will replace the giant cam. I will also have to replace the 3000 stall converter with something more suitable for a daily driver. This is also my first time tackling body work... Started to strip the whole thing to bare metal (old paint is not good enough of a foundation for a new paint job) and planning to do everything up to the primer sealer. Then I'll need to find a good painter. Whenever I'm done with the Ford, I'll start working on my 57 Chevy 3100 (which is my actual DD). It currently has a 350/350 combo from an early 70's Camaro and a 77 Nova front clip (according to the guy I bought it from), but I already purchased a GM 350 long block Vortec, Lt4 hot cam, 700R4******* and a bunch of goodies for it. Just can't start working on it until the f100 is back on the road since those are my only cars. What about you? are you currently working on any of your cars?
