Hi guys, i'm a new member from Manchester in the UK. I'm well into the nostalgia hot rodding scene and drag racing so i've combined both by building a 1932 Austin Bantam bodied altered. I'm afraid the ch***is' nto full on nostalgia (125 inch wheelbase chromemoly funny car ch***is), but we're making up for that with as many nostalgia features as poss! I've registered on this forum because there's a lot of good advice seems to be floating round so hopefully some people will be able to help me with some good advice when i need it. I hope i mite be able to help some people out in the process aswell
Welcome tho the Hamb. My mother in law in from Manchester, Her brother is still there. If you know a Brian Corrigan tell him his nephew Rob and his wife Kyle say hello! We'd like to come over in a few years maybe we can hook up with you and you can show us some hot rodding from the opposite side of the road
Im afraid i dont know a Brian Corrigan. And yes to everyone, we definately do drive on the wrong side of the road, (try ordering a big mac meal when your driving a 'real' american car, its no fun!!) Ive not got any really good otos of the bantam at the mo, theres a few on our website at www.northernqtrracing.com. I should be updating the photos in the next few days as i have just taken some good shots of the full car so stay tuned. cheers for the welcome guys
Hopefully gonna be the nostalgia nationals. Maybe shortly after tho!! Lot has gone wrong over the course of the build but it should hopefully be plain sailing from here!! some new pics on www.northernqtrracing.com
"Between Heaven and Hell" looks like it could really whoop some ***! Just checked out the latest pics... you guys got a nice shop over there across the pond!
Welcome to the HAMB. Are you one of the "Wild Bunch"? I got a real kick out of some of the rides over there. The "Cunning Plan" and "Bee Sting" come to mind right off.Oh and that wild Jag powered Comp Coupe Later,T.OUT
I'm really loving the appreciation from all you guys. I get a bit of stick usually, partyly cos im only 22 and partly cos im an Automotive engineering student so i look at a lot of things through my theoretical knowledge and stuff. I joined the forum mainly for advice on some stuff thinking that our project isnt quite full on jalopy journal kind of stuff but thanks so much for the welcome and the appreciation of the car. I'm hoping that soem time in the not too distant future I'll be able to emigrate over to the states and work building engines but its hard to get into. I read a lot in great depth about what can be done with american V8s but because of my relatively limited experience (maybe around 3-4 years) actually building etc its hard to get work!! www.northernqtrracing.com
I know, but theres just so many things that this country has got so wrong and it really irritates me!! Perhaps things that i shouldnt say on a public forum but things that dont occur in the US Also theres not too many places out here building good V8's and makin a good living out of it! Obviously its a much bigger thing in the states and there's more prospects for me!!
Hey guys, just thougth i'd post a pic for those asking. The car is just fresh out of our fabricators shop so theres no paint (just that lovely grey gel coat!!) and its on a set of nasty modern wheels!!! I'll post some more pics once its painted. Should be a couple of weeks I think. For anyone interested, That body is believed to be taken from a mould from Pure Hell in the 60's. Two bodies were made out of it, One being 'Shutdown', the british equivalent of Pure Hell, the other being this one. The guy who hadhis body had the rear fenders moulded into the body as he liked it better that way but then never used the thing, (It still has all the seam marks in it, never mounted on a ch***is or even painted!!!) www.northernqtrracing.com
Welcome aboard! Though the HAMB is a trad Rod & Custom forum you will find that if you truly have the spirit and your heart is into your projject and you build **** that goes really QUICK down the 1/4 mile folks will love you here! It is a great place to learn and share knowledge, and just plain bench race. And you guys build some really, really nice cars over there! Trust me the States have a fair number of problems too! We've got Chav's a plenty we just call em' by different names!
I can appreciate that our car is not entirely in the spirit of the H.A.M.B (its halfway there!!) but I actually registered on the forunm after several years of reading through many posts and realising that there is a phenomenal amount of knowledge and experience on here of a huge range of subjects. I know that it is gonna be of huge benefit us for several reasons. The great welcome and appreciation of the car has been a bonus and just shows that you guys are just genuine enthusiasts. cheers guys. On another note. Ive finally finished my degree in Automotive engineering!! so if any of you guys in the states happen to own an engine shop out there and need a keen, enthusiastic, engine builder then give us a shout!!!! www.northernqtrracing.com
