Hello, After probably 2 years of "lurkng" I have finally signed up. I see to many posts I want to contribute to, but haven't signed up, because I know you guy's like photo's with these intro's. I hope the one's I attach come through! I'm 36 years old. I have been around rods all my life. I am a 2nd generation rodder. Ihave a 40 Ford Standard coupe, that I have had since I was 12, and a 61 Ford 2 door hardtop as a current project. I have 2 small kids that keep me pretty busy, but I do volunteer as an NSRA safety inspector in my free time. Doing that, I see a lot of really nice stuff, as well as the not so nice. I've seen that money doesn't always make for a nice safe ride. Anyway, I hope to be a worthwhile member to this group. I'll try to contribute when I can, and keep quiet when I can't. Shawn
Thanks Slim, I see your from the MN area too. My 40 is red with white flames, red wheel & whitewalls, most of the usual rod stuff on it. I have run it hoodless since I got it on the road in 1992. It's been around awhile, so you may have seen it somewhere in the area. I just picked up my 61 last summer from the 2nd owner. He took all the trim off and started to dis***emble it for restoration, but lost interest. It's a 75k mile original, complete, not much rust, real nice original chrome and interior. 352 auto. I hope to get it on the road this summer. I tried attaching the photo's again, but I may not have them in the right format or something. Shawn
I guess the photo's worked. sorry for the poor image quality, I'm just learning the whole resizing thing for posting photo's on here!
Thanks for the compliments guys! It's amazing how many people ask me when I'm going to put a hood on it, or if I have one for it. I like it better though when the guy's that "get it" tell me how cool it looks without one, and how they remember when a lot of 40's ran hoodless. I do have a mint, original paint hood for it hanging in my Dad's pole barn, so someday I'll put one on. I try to do a little here and there on it as time and money permits. I want to put a set of rubber covered boards back on it. I also have a 59 Impala wheel I am restoring for it. I'm also thinking about changing the wheels to chrome reverse with spiders or just adding a set of full hubcaps to make it fit the late 50's early 60's style better.
