Hello, I was looking for the AD truck forum after hearing about it on Stovebolt. Looks like I had to join to see it. Lots of good info here. I picked up a 1950 3100. It was somebody elses unfinished project (barely started). I'll probably swap it onto an S10 ch***is. I'm still looking through the AD tech tips thread. I think I'm going to build the cab-lifter. I didn't find a tech tip on putting the little LED lights into the dash for signal and high beam indicators. I have seen that on a lot of these trucks. I'll have to search for it. Lots of other interesting groups too. I spent some time looking through some of those. My dad had a 53 Crown Victoria Crestline so I had to look around in there a bit. I would love to be able to read the "veterans" group(not post, just read).
WELCOME from nW MINNETHOTA put leds in my 53 car dash just use a drill and allow for a hard push fit dont drill tooo big,
Welcome! My first truck was an IH that I put on an '88 Chevy 1500. Most of the people on here told me not to do it. It seemed like the easiest way with what I had available. It wasn't easy, or worth it. In the end, I had a Chevy 1500, not an old truck. After driving some of my friends old vehicles, I had to sell the Chevy (IH). Do you want an S-10 or a cl***ic vehicle? After my swap was finished, I realized I had to learn and do everything I would have had to do to the original ch***is to make things work. Plus a little more. If the stock ch***is is sound, fix it up! You'll have yourself an old truck, not an S-10. Just my opinion of course, but don't say I didn't warn you.
And here is my opinion... Listen to this man. Not only am I completely sickened at the inference that this is "traditional hot rodding", I happen to put an average of more than 500 miles a week on my "avatar truck".... Update, you will not regret it if done properly.
