New guy from NorCal - working on old plastics

Discussion in 'New to the H.A.M.B.? Introduce yourself here!' started by Classic Plastics, Apr 11, 2026 at 6:50 PM.

  1. Hey everyone,

Figured I’d introduce myself. I’m based in Northern California and have been getting deeper into older cars and the details that go with them.

Lately I’ve been spending a lot of time working on reproducing old plastic parts - tail light lenses, trim pieces, that sort of thing. Mostly started out of frustration with how hard it is to find decent originals that aren’t faded, cracked, or brittle. I’ve been reverse engineering parts from originals and trying to get them back to something close to how they would’ve looked new.

Still early in the process and learning as I go, but it’s been a good challenge. Check it out here:

Outside of that, I’m a mechanical engineer and spend a lot of time riding bikes when I’m not in the shop.

Looking forward to learning from you all - there’s a lot of knowledge here.
