Hello all. I just recently found this site while searching for a windshield how to on building a durval styled one. I am early 40s guy with a great wife and a couple of boys that are just getting into thinking cars are cool so it was time to do a project that I had always wanted to do. Classics are hard to come by up here that have any metal left in them and will run a pretty ripe coin when you do find one. After a couple of years of trying to figure out what to do I decided on going from scratch. My car is at the rolling chassis stage now, its a roadster I am going for the 30's style salt flats racer. The chassis has taken alot of design from a lotus seven but stretched to fit me, and ford running gear and looking at stealing some styling for the front from the 38 ford just flattend down alot. I had wanted to build a 215 alloy buick engine for it but there were none available local so I stuck a turbo thunderbird engine in it ( it may get an eight in it eventually but I figure 275hp should be good to start) Last time I checked the weight of the car with no body work but full drive train was 1250 lbs so it should go like hell when done. Lots of good info here on the do it yourself type Dale
