Hey guys and gals. Stopped by to say hello and post a pic of my project.
    1951 Chieftain 4 door.
Locked up straight 8 came with the head removed and the harmonic balancer broke off and part of the balancer and key still on crank. uploadfromtaptalk1467766503844.jpg
55 olds 324 with slant pan hydro on stand by. uploadfromtaptalk1467766420880.jpg
I will humbly accept any pointers for making the swap.

All early Olds had a front mount under the harmonic balancer and two mounts off of the bell housing in the rear. Suspect the Indian has a much bigger engine bay given the fact that the 8 was a long fella. What does the engine bay look like...perhaps some pics would get this thread some more activity.
Can't remember if Pontiac had a closed drive line but if it does you will need to change that out to the open style the Olds used. Do you have the rest of the Olds drive train? What is the history on the 324?

Here are some pics of the straight 8. Sitting in the pontiac.
It has an open drive line like an olds.
The pontiac hydro has a shorter tail shaft than the one on the 324
    Thanks for responding. uploadfromtaptalk1467933066204.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1467933077559.jpg uploadfromtaptalk1467933086030.jpg
