I've been lurking around here for a while and finally got off my ass and decided to sign up. I've always been into the hot rod thing, but I'll be honest, until seven or eight years ago, I was pretty turned off by the whole "street rod" billet fluff 350/350 old dude lawn chair bit. Every now and then, I'd see a traditional car or gasser or whatever, and think "Why aren't more of those cats building cars like that?" Now all y'all are, and I'm thinkin' that I'm gonna build one, too. The old (really old) car scene is changing, and the "musclecar" side of the hobby is changing, too. I'm 33 years old, I've got a '77 Trans Am that I've had for 10 years, and have always considered myself a "street machine" kind of guy, although my choice of car doesn't seem to exist anymore. I guess that's it. I really appriciate everyone's commitment to keeping the hot rod/ DIY thing alive- I was starting to think that it was dying before Ifound this board.
Welcome aboard. You can check out a lot of those kind of cars next weekend at the Invasion! http://www.jalopyjournal.com/forum/showthread.php?t=281616
