The promised land I'm talking about is the Hot Rod lilfe. I just put some money down on a 1930 Model A 2dr Sedan. I hope to have it in possetion soon, I need to have it shipped from South Dakota. No worries. I've dreamed about this for so long and there were a few times that I was going to give up. My wife (here we go) didn't get it. In 2001 I was looking to change careers and joined the Naval reserve to learn electronics. I was hoping to land a job with SBC/ATT where my wife is employed. So I was getting those weekend drill paychecks so I decided to buy my car. It was a 1954 Chevy Bel Air hardtop. All there just needing to be redone. She flipped! Why I dont know. But she kept on harpin' and basically just pissin' and moanin'. She said, "Why didn't you buy your equipmnet for your own business and when that takes off, you could buy your hot rod, already done. (Funny how wives can't see the diamond in the ruff when it comes to cars, but the diamond on their finger shines bright. ) So I sold it (without even driving it) and bought my embroidery business. Now that that has taken off It's time. But still she wasn't on the same page. She hated me talkin' about my dream, and one day said, "I dont want to be a part of your dream." So I was out, gone, vamoose. And when she realized that I was serious and that I wanted a divorce, she was shocked. (for once she didn't have anything to say) How quickly she had a change of heart. Now she see's the light (And I have to say, she is sincere) She's talking about color schemes and she has interior ideas as well. She now want's to go to some car shows with me. This weekend I had a cousin who just got out of the slammer give me an engine for my project. I told my wife, "See how things fall in place once we're on the same page." I have to say that this story seems to be leading to a happy ending. And that ending is only the begining, cruizing down the highways, in my model A, with my wife by my side!
