Well I am not new, so I'm half right...
met a guy last week while I was in NC and he told me that HAMB was the place for car guys or girls, he called it a car man cave on the internet.
I could use some help with a project that I am working on hope you can help.

I have a 1940 Ford Coupe that I am installing a Ford 8.8 3.73 posi.differinal in from a doner Mountaineer '97 V8 car. I have listed my questions and what I think I want to do, my problem is will it work and how do u do it???

    1. I need to center the pinion gear, it is currently offset, because of the transfer case. I want to drill the (3) pins out that hold the longer axel tube to the third member press the tube out and shorten it (4" I think) re- machine the cut end press it back in re pin it and back weld both tubes to the third memeber. Does this make sense?
    2. I want to use coil over shocks (that I can adjust the ride heighth with), with a 4 link of some type and re use the sway bar. Does this make sense, if it does who's shocks and what configuration of "link" set up would you use?
I would appreciate your advise, Many Thanks!!!

Hope it works for you. Jimbo

Welcome Steve. Check out the Va. HAMBers section. There are several of us in the area. I'm having a party at my place in Oct. I posted about it in the Va hambers section too. A lot of the local guys will probably be showing up

Welcome from Southern Illinois. We vacation in Virginia and I always see some great iron sitting around that would make great projects. Good luck on the project.

Thanks Guys appreciate the hand shacks. I have lived in Virginia for years but was raised (think that's what they used to call it, folks said do this and U did it) central Illinios. So hi to the guy from southern Illinios, too. I will move my question on to the "main Board"
Scottb356 thanks for the invitation, after work release I'll take you up on it...
