Hi all ! Someone has asked me to join the group and I gladly have . I am in Abbottstown , Pa. I own a 55 Ford Fairlane Fordor that is stock for the time being . I am building as I drive so I can get to car shows and the Jalopy Showdown in Latimore . I am going to be doing my 55 Ford in an old style hot rod . Mexican seat covers , cross bar hubcaps , dual cherry bombs and it still has the 272 Y block and Ford O Matic that has a bad leak . I want to remove the trim but would like to find the trim from a Customline . I am thinking if I want trim I would like the side trim straight on the side of the car . I really don't care for the Vicky style trim that goes up oner the front fenders . I do have a spare 292 and a 302 with a 5 speed which I am hoping to get installed this summer or winter . I am going to change the exhaust to dual Smithys . Other than that I would like the paint to be a semi flat or satin black . I do have some spare Y block parts and 3 speed trans . Well enough of my rambling about my Ford . If anyone is in my area , shoot me a PM and maybe we can help each other with something or sit back and shoot the breeze with a cold one !
Hi RetroJim, I just joined this group recently but have seen a few of your recent posts can't recollect where tho'. Sound like your taste is similar to mine. I read your profile about eh yellow/black SuperBee, I had a yellow/black '70 Satellite convert back in '71-'72 that I kinda wish I had back. But I don't miss the MOPAR part of it - nothing but trouble, even at only a year old. Oh well. I have 3 mid 50s Fords, one is my high school car from '68 and the others are donors for the project. But I have lots of parts in the barn that I'll never use, 2 or 3 old Yblocks, a couple of automatics and one 3 speed trans, etc, etc. . . . I keep saying I'm gonna do a swap meet someday but it's now turning into some year. Maybe after I retire in a couple of years.
Glad to have you in the group, Jim. Sounds like you've got some pretty specific plans for your mordoor. In spite of the "bad rap" a lot of the guys on the main board give to the flat black/red wheel/whitewall look that you've got planned, I still think it looks great! And, it's authentic to the late '50s when I was in Junior High. In my area there were more than a couple cars in the High School parking lot done in dark gray primer with red wheels, flipper hubcaps and whitewall tires. The ones I recall in detail also had fender skirts and "echo cans" on the exhaust...and they looked good! They were "works in progress", as most were in those days, though many never did get the glossy paint their college-bound owners could not yet afford. I don't know where the current trend to add skulls, spider webs, fake fur, rusty chrome and flame throwers came from, though. None of that stuff when I was growing up. You'da been banished to the muddy end of the parking lot for that kind of automotive abuse! But then, there weren't any Bowser-types or tattood Betty's either...at least not on my end of the planet. Don't know where that came from, either. Anyway... Welcome to our little group. I think you'll like it here. Eric
New guys everyday.... Great! Welcome to the group. You'll see a bit of everything here with these guys, but all worthy of being heard and seen. Enjoy.
