    Hello,

    My name is Marc

I spent 20 years selling parts to the Big three automakes and the tier one and tier two suppliers

My 26 year old son has inherited a 48 ford and we are trying to decide weather to rebuild it or to take on something else as a project

I am interested in somthing different not the same ole same ole

I started my working days as a teenager in autobody repair and painting

I have continued to dabbled a bit in it over the years more on boats than cars

I currently have a business that builds plaques for people featured in magazines and newsprint (we do photos as well) www.headlinesdirect.com (if this link violates posting rules please let me know and i will edit it )

I enjoy lurking and will post when relevant

I attend many car events in the summer in Michigan (Autorama's in Grand Rapids and Detroit as well)

    Let the information flow begin

    Marc

  12. Welcome aboard Marc...I'm still clinging to my car industry job but juuuuust barely. Michigan is in dire straights but here on the HAMB, we can all try and have a good time and put our troubles aside for awhile. All the best wishes for your business in these troubled times and I hope to run into you and yours out and about here in Michigan's beautiful upcoming Spring and Summer.

I had a home in Sterling Heights for many years (19 and Dequinder)

The auto industry is a mess and i saw it coming 5 years ago (not this bad but saw some of what was going to happen)

What do you do in the Auto industry ???

I sold stampings , Dicastings, plastics and die cut foam. I was independant sales rep. It was great, and i did well for many years, but as things started to change they always wanted to get rid of the sales guy after we brought them a few million in sales (I was commision they didnt want to continue to pay me ) No other job can you work your self out of income by being great at what you do If you start to bring in more in commisions than the top dog at any company you represent You will most certianly not be selling for them anymore because you are making to much money LOL

    Crazy business

I dont make near waht i did in the auto industry but i am home more and less political battles :)

Good luck we havent seen the bottom yet (i dont think)

I do not know how to respond to that :D

You just got to work on first what you can afford at the time/ comes across your bow for the right price and then make it something that you like. Usually it does not have to please anyone but me.

    Your stuff speaks for itself:cool:

I've been pretty lucky over the years with the oddball stuff. Must be doing something right :D
