Pursuant to the few rules of the HAMB, here's my official howdy. So, howdy, I'm Alex. I'm currently getting myself up to my eyeballs in my first rod project<drumroll>... A '31 Model A four door sedan (Murray body, hence my screenname) channeled six inches onto a LaSalle frame. Only one spot of rot on the cowl, otherwise the body's good, and the frame is excellent. There's even a nine inch rear end housing, but I haven't investigated whether it's reusable. Best body feature: the drive-in theatre concession stand menu that serves as the roof. For motivation: a 460 inch big block Ford that my generous boss gave me. Not exactly period-correct, but at least it makes 350 horsepower in stock form, so I'd say that makes up for it. I'm rebuilding it in my apartment now - got it down to the bare block last week. I'll go with a mild rebuild - intake, carb, cam and port the heads. It'll be healthy and very reliable. Transmission is another question. I'd like a manual, but most of these big blocks were in trucks, so most of the four-speeds are geared super low. And they're pricey. A C6 or C4 would work cheaply and easily, though. Suggestions are welcome. Anyway, get to the pictures, man... This one's my avatar - I hadn't owned this thing for an hour and it already drew blood. First of many to come. And the obligatory 'hey that's me!' shot:
Aw, dammit. How come I could see those pictures in the composition field but they don't post? Man, am I a noob or what?
