Hi folks, My name is Matthew.... and I'm a Gearhead.

(waits for the 'hello Matthew' chorus from the group)

I'm currently running a group of projects.

my two current headaches are a pair of baby lincolns, a 1949 and a 1950 to be specific. One is complete, and with a carb rebuild and a good cleaning, might actually run.

    The other... not so much.

    Still, I've got the sickness.

    found it.

    it's a Holley R-597-A. also known as a 885-FF.

Mercury used them on the 49-51 cop cars. Lincoln used them on the 'baby' lincolns. Also known as the 'sport sedan'

I am blessed with having the actual factory 'big green book'.

Also known as '1949-1951 Lincoln and Lincoln Cosmopolitan Ch***is Parts Catalog."

even if it is a bit nibbled on, and smells of old newspapers and mouse pee.

Welcome on. You have the big bruisers. I play with the Mercury cars but my OEM manual is blue. I do have a later green cover copy though.

I've purchased kits for the Holley 885 from Macks and C&G. Both left a bit to be desired but they worked. It seems like I ended up using parts from both kits the last time I did one.
