Well, I'm finally able to indulge myself and found this forum. I'm in the Norfolk area at the moment and have been wanting to restore some cars but life has never allowed me. Now things are changing and I'm looking forward to my first project. I'm planning on doing 1965-67 Ford F100 Flareside starting next spring. My dad had one he bought soon after I was born (he couldn't tell me the model year - bought it from the jobsite we were at). I remember riding in it and playing in the bed. I've been trying to find pictures of it so I know what color to paint it. I'm plan on restoring it and giving it to him while he is still able to enjoy it. I picked the truck because it seems that finding parts would be easier. His first car was a 1949 Chevy fastback, bought in 1951. The test drive was the first time he ever drove a car. Bought it and drove it home, then went and got a license. After he got back from Korea, he got a 1952 Buick that he kept until 1961 when he traded it for a Falcon. Since it's my first project, I just think finding a Chevy or a Buick that is in my price and skill range is asking a lot. A Falcon is a possibility, but the truck would be more useful in the long run. The other interesting car we had growing up was a 1967 Fury III Wagon with the extra seat. It had a 383 2 barrel and still purred when we sold it in the early 80's. Don't see a lot of those around. Oh, so just for fun over the winter, and to please my 1yr old daughter, I'm cutting apart an old radio flyer wagon and turning it into a 30's roadster wagon. Will post pics when I get it done.
