Just another new OLD guy. Building a 47 Fiat Topolino. Maybe this isn't the place for my project, if not let me know. A real steel car I bought in 1959 for $100.00 and drove it home. The build: 392 Chrysler hemi, 6-71, Hilborn 4 port, Browell steel clutch can, Lenco 3 speed, 4130 tube ch***is, 115 inch wheelbase, Mustang II type front suspension, American spindle mount MAGNESIUM 5 spoke front wheels with Wildwood brakes, 16 X 10 big window Halibrands, Strange suspended modular 9 inch rearend. Should be a fun STREET CAR. Now, does anybody have a line on Tetraethyl Lead? This is an 8 to 1 motor, and I'd like to buy some not so much for its anti-detonant properties, but for valve seat and stem lubrication. My heads don't have hard seats, and I don't like the so called "octane boosters". What do you say? Thanks, Henry
Welcome Henry...why don't you just start a build thread as you seem pretty up on the makings of a Monster of a unique compact of the yesteryear. But as eluded do throw a couple of pics up to get us believing... If your having problems no surprise theres some learning curves. In the Questions and Suggestions section there is a Tutorials near the top and 2nd thread down is on posting pics... Goodluck and welcome...
As mentioned...we need pics of what sounds like a very cool project. And welcome. Enjoy your HAMBtime.....................................................Don.
Henry, your profile says you're 73, well I'm 72 , always nice to have someone on here older than me, welcome from southern Wisconsin!! Your profile didn't give a location!
Welcome from another Henry . Yes i love the Topolino,s too. Probably had about 10 of the little ******s . First model & last model. Still have these two leftovers.
WELCOME! You will find a lot of help here{I did!} and a lot of old guys *****ing about getting old.LOL.Bruce.
Welcome Henry, from another old fart I'm 80 Tetraethyl lead is truly getting hard to find unless you spend the bucks for racing gas Not sure it's still there, but at one time there was an ad in the parts and stuff section of the Alliance vendor cl***ifieds for an additive that claimed to be real tetraethyl lead. Wasn't cheap though But still, might be your only option unless you know somebody that can get you aircraft gasoline.
Henry I just went over to the list of Alliance vendors and didn't see the ad for tet lead there anymore. Maybe somebody knows what happened? Did the emissions people nail them or what??????????
