Hi y'all. New guy here from S.E. michigan. Kind of new to hot rods also. Been toying with a 79 firebird for the past 6 yrs. Built it into a road course racer, with a sleeper stock look. I'm looking for inspiration on a future project. Basically I want to build a race looking car with street car civility and some creature comforts. I'm researching models from the late 40's to the early 60's. I'm partial to Gm family of brands. It must be a coupe and must have a manual trans. Please provide me with pics of cars from the 40-60s that are purpose built race cars or restomods with the same concept. I'm not interested in the Gassers or funny cars.

    Thanks guys
    Zack

Thanks for the heads up. I posted in the introductions area. I searched several key words "racer, race car....." and found nothing. Admins feel free to delete this thread. Unless others here are willing to help.

  5. I don't think there is anything wrong with your question, was just pointing out that you really needed to do an intro, which you have now done. Do a search for the Jim Busby/ Rick Knoop 32 - it is a bad ass steel 32 coupe road racer.
    Also search Max Balchowsky

Thanks Hotroddon. I appreciate the help. Those suggestions are exactly what I am looking for. I am just as excited to build a vehicle as I am to educate myself on the tradition of hot rodding and american racing history. I also stumbled across Buck Baker and his cars. Especially the 1949 Olds Rocket and 57 chevy.

This is exactly the look I want.
