I come from the lsx world (currently have a 04 pontiac gto that makes 530hp). Im tired of dealing with smog, and want to get into something old, loud, and fast. I started out driving a 75 nova as my first car, and miss the smell/sound/feel of old cars.

Anyways, I've lurked on here for quite a while, but Ive been looking for a traditional style 27-31 model a coupe. Whats an appropriate price range for a model a that has been partially built with period correct parts that is a driver, but still needs finishing (i.e. glass, interior trim, gauges, carpeting). Im having a hard time finding what I want, as its either 40k plus for a completed car or a rust bucket with wonky parts on it thats a rat rod that goes for 10-20k.

I want to buy something that can be driven, but also be worked on slowly and make it my own, eventually putting a different motor/trans/rear end or whatever. I can do some mechanical work, but no welding, so thats why I want a car thats already chopped/channeled/etc.

Any pointers to where to look for a car such as this or info would be appreciated.

Howdy from Spokane and welcome. A-bones are starting to get scarce and they are also pretty popular right now, consequently those facts reflect the pricing of them. Expect to pay 15-20K for a decent driver. The body alone in my avatar was $3200 and I did all the chop work myself. Keep searching the classified ads here, something is sure to turn up eventually, good luck.......
