I'm putting a bunch of mis-matched A parts together. All the mechanical brake parts were missing/damaged, so I decided to go with juice brakes. Everything is used, 36-39/wide five set-up.
If I go with later spindles, I'll need to switch to cross-steer.
How big a headache is that?
If I find a late-30's column and box, will it need shortened?
Any particular years to look for?
    Thanks

Vendors sell bolt on arms that replicate the original upper steering arm for the side steering. Easy peasy.

Are you using the Model A axle? Split wishbones?

Model a axle, unsplit wishbone currently.
The only reason I started thinking about later spindles, is that the best front drums I have are '36, which require '36 spindles (came with).
The arms are cast into the spindle, so the suggested bolt-in arms won't fly.

The arm bolts to the top two holes of the spindle. Gives the same usage of the drag link like Henry designed in 1928.

But I’m not sure anyone makes such an arm for the 36 spindle. You might need to fab your own. Still a lot less work than making a steering box mount for a cross steer box.

If you do as @alchemy suggests everything would work as on a Model A. You'd just have a spare hole on the passenger side steering arm.

    I get it, thanks.
Too many odd parts in my garage. First time out, it's not obvious what direction to go with things like this.
