Hi all. Just wanted to take a moment to introduce myself. I am from the Lansing, Michigan area and I was a collision repair tech for almost 20 years starting as a senior in High school. I'm no stranger to vintage autos as I've had a few myself and worked on even more. Back in December I bought a 54 Customline sedan. I couldn't p*** it up as I've always wanted a 50's era car to restore and this one was complete and solid! I don't plan on doing any body work for a couple years because I think it looks presentable the way it is. Besides, I have a list of mechanical upgrades I want to do first. Currently the engine is at the machine shop and I've rewired (using a kit) everything but the engine compartment and front lights. This car has taught me a lot over the last few months and I know I have a lot more to learn but it has been interesting and this site has been a valuable resource. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions and I hope I am able to offer my help as well......
Thanks everyone for the warm reception. I will get some pics up soon. I'm doing the self adjusting drum brake conversion right now using the 67-68 mustang hardware. The thread by Chopd top on this conversion is fantastic! Only wish I found it sooner. Lol. Also I just found a complete 79 Granada power steering set up on ebay so I hope to do that upgrade in a couple weeks.
Welcome to the site. A lot of good information here. I moved here to Az. from Livingston County in Mi. about 5yrs. ago to escape the snow/cold.
Thanks everyone. I'm glad I found this place. So much great info on our old fords. This is gonna save me a lot of time. I hope I can pay it forward as well. I totally know what you mean 57custom. Getting really tired of long winters. I'm originally from potterville, Mi. Just a small village about 25 minutes from Lansing so I'm a country boy born and raised. I currently live in Lansing [emoji53] and let me tell you I am out of place here... Sent from my iPhone using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
