Hi there. New to this site, new to building a car. Just looking for a little direction so I can ask my "new guy" questions to the right crowd. I recently acquired a really solid 1931 Buick Series 90 four door. Really solid as in no body work needed, and all of the wood is in great shape. I don't have much history on the car. Came out of Washington state. Can someone point me towards the good Buick forums or "threads" Any Buick gurus on here? I'm looking to build this car to drive, not to let it side in the shop and collect dust. Will not be cutting on it. I like the look, I just need some direction on the best and safest way to make it a driver. Thanks in advance for any help.
Hi. Just do Google search for Buick Forum and a bunch will come up. Something you need to decide is whether you want to keep it as original & just rebuild original brakes & suspension or do modifications for upgrades of brakes & suspension. Those old Buicks are very stout and were very well engineered & built. If you plan on making it a vintage show car be very careful on re engineering with modern upgrades as that will cost you dearly in shows. good luck & post us some photo's. Jimmie
V8buick.com is my 2nd choice besides the HAMB. Those guys know their stuff as well. Congrats on the BUICK Sent from my SM-J727T1 using The H.A.M.B. mobile app
Thanks for the feedback. Still going through all the stuff that came with this car. Thinking of getting rid of new straight eight, and the original that came with. Along with original trans, and two rebuilt ones. Odd ball stuff, may be a little hard to get rid of. I'm planning on upgrades to front and rear end, and have torn down a 350 with turbo 400. I just want to be able to drive this car. Nothing fancy, but not sticking with original design. What do you guys think about trying to get rid of those motors and transmissions? Best classifieds?? Thanks again for the responses. I'll check back sooner this time. I figured I'd get a notification or an email if someone replied.
Hi. those engines & transmissions are worth big bucks to someone needing them. You need to post classifieds on the Buick forums - for the antique restoration guys. Good luck, Jimmie
