Hi folks. Just purchased a 56 Customline, former Harrah's museum car. Originally a 6 cyl/auto, it now has a 390/c6. My first fifties Ford, my previous builds were a 60 Starliner, 64 Marauder, a 65 Comet b/fx clone, a cobra replica, and a bunch of mustangs before I got bored with them. Looking forward to making a contribution and learning more than a thing or two!
Welcome to our group from Abbottstown , Pa. ! Do you have pictures of all your cars in an album yet ? Would love to see them ! Jim
Welcome from Ontario, Canada. I recommended this group to you on the main board, but see you already found it.
All my pics of the other cars were lost in a computer crash, sad to say. I'm in the process of arranging delivery of this one from Nevada. Only 36K mi, but I intend to drive it a whole lot more than it has been I ***ure you. Here's a pic.
Welcome from Reno, NV! Can I ask how you got the car? Being in Reno I like to hear about Harrah's cars any time I can.
Welcome from Oklahoma! I am kind of partial to 56's since I got mine earlier this year. Yours looks like a nice car.
Clustr, the way the current owner told me, when the old man died the family divested itself of all the cars except for the most valuable ones. My car, being a six cylinder auto, though low miles (about 20K at the time) was one of the ones they sold off. It was bought by a fella in Reno who kept it few years with no changes. He then sold it to a police over in the Sparks area in 85. The cop kept it as is, but got bored with the six shooter and installed the 390 and painted black and white and used it as a patrol car replica, and then a couple years ago had it painted the green/aqua you see here. He sold it to me so he could build finance his other childhood dream car, a 32 roadster.
Very nice looking car ! It has to be lots of fun to drive with that Fe under the hood ! Is it a stock 390 or does it have a bigger bump stick ? Jim
Great story. I have often wondered how many of Harrah's cars are lurking around local garages. Actually the place where I store my car is within throwing distance of Harrah's old warehouse in Sparks.
For those of you who were asking about my older cars. Found a pic of my 65 Comet b/fx clone. This went to a "gentleman" in Canada who promptly got it in a national magazine while taking all the credit for the build. Oh well.
