My 17 year old son, Jack, and I are new to H.A.M.B. but certainly not to hot rodding--it's in our genes! My uncle, Bill Hoffman, is the real deal. He attended Grant High School (as does Jack) in the mid-50's, was a member of the Throttle Kings car club and had a '53 Cheverolet that was pretty famous locally and featured in a few of the small mags of the time--extensive body mods, white with multi-colored flames, hot Corvette mill and one of the first lowering systems (hand-operated!) around. We've had a '64 Impala for quite a while (stout 350, Torque Thrusts, nice rake) but have always wanted a real hot rod. This week, we got one! An East Coast-style channeled '30 roadster--bobbed rear and cycle front fenders, 348 Chevy and M-20 4-speed-- fast and loud! It was built by a kid in Indiana in '65, won the Street Roadster class at the 1966 Indianapolis Aurorama and had limited use since then. We plan on changing that! I am supposed to be receiving more history from its previous owner this week and will post more pictures as we would love to know a little more of the cars history. We are also hoping to find a local club to join so we can rip around with other local rods and attend events. I will update soon. Eric Wolf
