hi. i am am a new guy. I was kind of wondering what ya'll thought of my 63 galaxie. it's all original, 48000 miles, 289. How do you feel about kustomizing a car that is nice and original? I almost can't do anything to it. (because it's all original, and i am broke.) I have the original sales receipt and registration from 63. i am up for any ideas, except gold dubs.

    Welcome aboard......nice galaxie.

I know where there is this visor...

  4. Vis... forget it.

Supremes for those thin white stripes (about 100 ea.) and lime-gold 'flake the roof. Protect the interior with some Mexican Sarapes.

Or you could come up with something original.

You could store that car for 20 more years, then sell it and buy whatever you've wanted to customize your entire life. A low mileage car like that will fetch good cash if you sell it when the time is right. You could customize it, but galaxies are pretty cool as is. You'll find quite a few here, even one which breifly had an identity crisis as a 40s kustom. [IMG]

    Welcome.

welcome, that is a REALLY nice car . i would say supremes or even cragars with skinny whites and ofcourse a flake top . but the interior is too nice to cover up with mexican blankets just show it off and take care of it . that car is awesome......just dont paint it flat black . if anything leave it stock except for wheels and lowering . .....

Oh man...Ya GOTTA put them skinny little teeny gold wire wheels that hang outside the wheel wells on it. Then chop up the trunk floors and A-arms and put some hydros on it with that huge chromed box-like thing that sits on the seat all the time...oh and yeah, a visor, definitely one off a big honkin' '40's Cadillac -- big wide*****er that covers 3/4's of the windshield...and murals...yeah, that's the ticket, you be stylin'.

    NOT!!!

The car is coooool...don't touch it...the flaked top -- fahgedaboudit, the mexican blankets -- fahgedaboudit, the supremes (wasn't that an all-girl singing group?)fahgedaboudit...why***** up a good thing?

Now that the car thing is out of the way...you didn't give us old guys much of an intro, like how old are ya? What do you do for a living? Still in school? Why do you like sixties stuff? And no, I don't want a date...just curious why you got on the HAMB?

    Where are you in KY?
I know a few cats up that way. If I can find out where
you are, I can send them over to drink up all your beer... [IMG]

    Supremes.....naaaaaw

Cragars, Cragars, Cragars are the only way to go. (ss of course)

Car looks cool. Keep it that way.

Welcome! From a kentuckian to another. Nice wheels, but I'm afraid you'll need to give us alittle more of an intro. I can tell your from the western part of the state lots of houses and nice stuff. Not to many cars (transcameros) up on blocks in the background and no homes with wheels. What part of kentuck you from boy? Anyway nice car and leave it alone - the car will tell you when its ready for a change. Later and nice meetin yah, Brooding Swede

Yep! I always like to look at a nice car when I'm going to drinkin your beer! Miller High Life!

  11. Leave that car like it is, it never comes back. If you customize it, you may regret one day.
If you can't resist just do the wheel and lowering thing. It's bolt on and doesn't hurt the car.
    BTW, welcome here.

alright, so i need an intro. Let's see if i can get all the questions... I am in kentucky because that's where i popped out. I am a 23 yr old graphic artist. I was in college for a while in southern indianer, but i signed up for too many loans and now i have to work ALL THE TIME. I have always been an admirer of cars since i was a young'n. Mom n dad wouldn't buy me one when i was 16, so since i have a job, i bought my damn self one. i don't blame em. What else was there?... Why do i like 60's stuff? Me n my bro, bluegrassboogie, played in a "rockabilly" band for a few years. so i was exploring old styles of music. i fell in love with surf music, mainly los straitjackets, ventures, whatever. i usually liked all the old 50's customs. chopped mercuries are a favorite of course. but for some reason i fell in love with this galaxie. i usually don't go past the mid 60's for cars that i drool over. this is fricken long. i am going to shut up. My Dream car: 59 el camino.

Just drive it and enjoy it. If YOU think of something you would like to do to "improve" it, do it. DO NOT do it to try to "fit in." Sweet ride....welcome aboard.

I have to agree with the others, thats a sweet car as is,if you do anything just add a nice set of wheels or items that are bolt ons as not to change the integrity of such a nice car.As for me though I like radical stuff, but again I never start with anything that nice.Welcome to the HAMB, Im new myself and I think you will really enjoy this thing and most of all get that car out on the road and go to some events and meet some of the great people who love cars---Enjoy it!

    welcome,

yeah some fat five spoke and white letters look hotrod but the supremes--different shaped spoke- and thin whites on something like that, and low seem to have a good cruiser look and would match the style with the flaked top.

    photo shop?

Nothing too much to add for advise. K.I.S.S theory, (Keep It Simple Stupid). Wheels of choice, skirts if thats your style, tube grilles are still available and a bolt in, lower it a bit, your done!
    Nice ride, Welcome.

I love those cars... I had one for like three weeks once...

I'd leave that one alone. All I would do is lower it, put single red line tires on three rib Radirs and call it golden...

    Bad**** car...

  23. aw man,my bro is here.youll like him ,hes the coolest.artist ,musician, rennisance man.see ,i cant be one because i cant even spell it.
its funny to watch him want so bad to do some work on that galaxie, but its so cherry he cant do it!haha.i wouldnt either.tires can be changed back.roof paint can be redone.thats all i would touch.i mean this cars plastic seat covers were just removed by the previous owner.nobodys dirty***** had ever even touched em.or even faded the slightest bit!
anyway, welcome man, and i hope you stick around long enough to get hooked like i did!
