Have just recently made a deal on two 1928 Chevrolet sedans. One is a 4-door, and due to its history and completeness is destined for an “as close to original as possible” restoration. It is a ground up project, as all the parts are there but dissembled. I will be the third owner, and it will be within 50 miles from where it was originally purchased. The second is a 2-door sedan, and not as complete.

I also have a 1961 Impala, owned since 1983. To go with it is a spare 348 ci engine with a tri power setup, and spare interior.

Now to explain the post title. Back in the mid ‘80s I was at a car show in Bithlo, Florida, and saw a Pontiac sedan from the late ‘20s or early ‘30s. It was red, had a 348 engine, and a grafted in dash board and steering column from a 1961 Chevy. Also had a magazine displayed with an article written about the car, from either the ‘60s or ‘70s. May have been Hot Rod magazine.

The 2-door sedan I feel should be destined for a classic hot rod. Paint, chrome and junkyard scavenged parts. No billet aluminum. If my memory is right about the magazine article, would like to use it as an inspiration for what I want to do with the 2-door. Also to see what was done to prep the frame, brakes and suspension for fitting a V8.

I have worked on and restored various muscle cars since the late ‘70s, but never a classic prewar bodied hot rod.

Welcome to the HAMB! I have two stacks of Car Craft and Rod & Custom I plan to list in the classified section in the coming days, I'll look for the Pontiac feature. Bob
