Hey everybody. My name is Will, and I'm about to turn 20 in two weeks. I'm from Naperville IL, an I'm just getting into the rod scene. My dad and I just bought a 1949 chevy 4-door that's going to be our toy. We have some ideas for it right now, but since neither of us has ever done any customizing we are going to take it slow. I'm in school right now at Universal Technical Institute in Glendale Heights, IL and am looking to become a line technician for a dealership or work in a private shop right out of school. After that who knows but I know for a fact that I'd like to get into performance or customs. I hope I can take some knowledge away from this site to help with the build, and hopefully everyone will like seeing the transformation along the way.
I vaguely remember when I looked forward to my next birthday....but that was a long time ago. >I hope I can take some knowledge away from this site to help with the build, and hopefully everyone will like seeing the transformation along the way.< That's what we're here for. Just remember it's always nice to leave a little something for that which you take away.... Welcome....and nice intro... Mutt
Welcome!! Great Intro!!! Jus sit back & read & you'll learn all kinds 'o stuff. Chebbys are kool, I have a '52.--If you want ideas, got to the HUNNERT car pile-up in Morris, ILL--ON OCT.8th.
Yeah I think I'm going to have to start going to more rod shows and cruise nights to get some good ideas. My dad got a kick out of this, when we went out to drive it/teach me 3 on the tree we stopped at ACE to get some new keys cut and when I got out of the car I caught my ankle on the lake pipe. Well it only takes one to learn right? I won't do that again.
Welcome Will, The '49 should be fun. I did a '55 Ford truck with my Dad. Lots of good quality time. Enjoy. Steven
Django - yea that would be the car. It looks really good in my driveway I have to say. That and the stares we get when driving it down here in naperville are awesome.
Yeah, that's not a very naperville friendly car. hahahaha Click on the link below for my club's site. We have a board to that covers more things local.
