There's a new Houston event being planned for later in the month at the Houston Continental Club called Texas Rock & Rod. Here's the announcement: Hey guys, here's a quick overview of what's going down Sunday June 27, 2004 at the Continental Club, Houston. Admission is $10 From noon to 6 p.m. we'll have the Luxurious Panthers, John Evans Band and Big E playing some great rock n roll music. Adam Fisher will be there serving up his fabulous Bar-B-Q. And local artist will be displaying poster art with a hot rod and/or rock n roll theme. The posters will be for sale during a private auction, all proceeds of the events go to the Art Directors Club of Houston as this is a fund raiser for the organization. Also Cactus Records will be present with some great swag and ADCH will have some prizes too. We're asking that as many people as possible come out from Houston and Austin, bring their cars and show them off. I've talked to the guys here at So-Cal and we should be seeing something from them, as well I'm trying to get in touch with as many Houston Roadsters members as possible. Posters and fliers will be printed this week and we'll have some for both Continental Clubs, as well we're placing them at local automotive shops, So-Cal, Cactus, Rockin' Robin and other places. We'll also be running two ads in the Houston Chronicle between June 17-27th. And ADCH will be sending out about 800 mailers and a web site should launch in the next day or two. The web address is: www.adch.org/txrocknrod Thanks for all of your help and we look forward to working with the Continental Club once again. Henry E. Davis Art Directors Club of Houston Student Committee Chairman p: 281.955.6477 f: 281.955.6474 m: 281.352.6041 Be sure to check out the website in a day or two. Henry Davis works here at the Houston Chronicle and is working like mad to make the event a success and hopes that it will become an annual event and maybe a Houston/Continental Club counterpart to The Lonestar Roundup. It's only a couple of weeks after the Live Fast event but it will definitely be worth your consideration.
Damn, I'm an Art Directors member, and I hadn't heard of this! Continental Club and ADCH together - who'd of thunk?
