Ever need one of these? I have a '60 Cadillac. I jacked up my ignition bezel, and then someone stole it years ago. I've just located another nice one, and I didn't want to screw it up by using two screwdrivers to get it on. The search was on for an ignition switch bezel tool. Eventually I found a guy named John Rivinius ( jrivinius@sc.rr.com ) I called him up at 843-324-3586 and hit him up for a tool. Apparently he makes 'em - a LOT of different ones. And if you have a bezel he DOESN'T make a tool for, if you donate it to him (to check his tools with - he checks each and every one before it leaves the door) he'll send you a tool for free! Check him out if you get a chance. He also has an eBay store, going by the merchant name of "johnscudas". http://search.express.ebay.com/merchant/johnscudas I'm never using a screwdriver on another bezel ever again! Once again, this is purely informational - not SPAM. I just figured I'd p*** the info on. ~Jason
Doubtless you folks have run into the same problem as me - anybody ever run into anybody else that makes these tools? ~Jason
i use to use snap ring pliers for them till i bought the tools for them. It is so easy to remove/install with the right tool.
I made a windshield wiper bezel AND NUT tool for my 55 Safari out of a 1/2" black pipe ******.Cut off the threads on one side and filed the pins using a vise to hold the ******.Used a pair of ViseGrips on the threaded side.Works perfectly.I've taken a half dozen of them off with no visible damage to the tool.I think the ****** cost about 60 cents at my local hardware store. The hardest part was getting the nut under the bezel off.
I figured lots of HAMB-worthy cars have these bezels... and the tool is only like $13 or so! More pics: ~Jason
Hello Everyone. Thank you all for this post. Yes these tools I produce will pay for themselves the first time you used it. Being a Car guy myself I often come across problems that require a special tool. Being a machinist I decided to develop these tools and make them affordable to the public. I am always looking to make new prototypes. So if you have a bezel or nut for a tool I don't manufacture, I can make it for you at low or even no cost. Same here, I use cheap used deep sockets. I made a double ended one with the two sizes needed for the wiper bezels on mid 50s Cad (GM) drilled a hole in middle of the two sockets added a rod to spin them off and on.
I've been watching your tools on Ebay for months CMC and keep telling myself I need to order one to use on my later model truck. Not something most of us need every day but they sure save scratching a good dash trying to get the bezel out.
Most of us in the past has used a wrong tool to chew up or scare the chrome or worst scratch the dash. Also available is model specific antenna remote mirror ignition switch nut and other bezel or spanner tools for GM ,Ford Mopar AMC and European cars and trucks www.custommachinecomponents.com
Just added special tool to remove the ignition switch for 69 Dodge plymouth and Chrysler. Antenna nut tools available for most models GM, Ford, and Chrysler + many European models from 1950-75 Many other bezel and switch nut tools available at www.custommachinecomponents.com
Hi everyone. Thanks for everyone for the great success of these specialty tools. I have added more items so please check them out www.custommachinecomponents.com
