  1. OK no worries. I like both the aggregate as well as the divided forums, I also see a new Ebay and link forum?

Looks better than your original change Ryan.
I was one of the more vocal in my comments on the first change(s), but you have done a lot towards alleviating my concerns
As for the numerous forum branches, two of my other favorite forums, neither involving hot rods, have far more seperate branches, or sub forums.
I like the idea of a trditional styled forum, as it gives those who want to try new technical stuff in a car with traditional styling a place to go. I like it.
But I'll still have a sharp reply handy for anybody who trys to tell me something is or isn't traditional when I know different, CAUSE I LIVED IT!!!!!!!

  3. But you are old and forgetfull!:D:p

I like it! But I wouldn't mind a general discussion board still were we can see it all.

  7. I have held my comments till now as to give it some time to see what this all would look like. I can tell you that its AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!! I like alot of different stuff from the very perfect traditional customs and hot rods to the traditional hot rods and customs with some modern stuff thrown in. The biggest thing I like is there is still a section that pulls from all of threds into one just like the how the old HAMB was. I like that feature the best so I will not miss anything and if I see something that I want to follow then I can head over to the section where that thread is and commet so I can start to follow it. I have been here a long time back when this all got started and Ryan you have done nothing but always looked out for us and just keep making it better and better. As some of said in the past the HAMB has now become a major stable in the hot rod world, to the point the some of the unanswered questions that have plaged man in the hot rod world have been answered here.

    VIVA LA HAMB.

Just be respectful of other users and you will be fine. That's all I ask.

Did you not read this at all? That's exactly what you have.

I was going to reserve judgement until step 6 but I want to throw in a well done for this latest change. You are doing a great job Ryan & I do not envy the amount of work you have put in or still have to go.

    Ryan,
From one web developer to another, I applaud your approach here. Normally I keep my mouth shut regarding another mans work, but I am impressed with the direction you are taking this and you deserve the props where they are due. The organization you are providing to the forum is VERY WELCOME in my eyes. The vast amount of content that this forum contains is huge, and it sure isn't going to get smaller. You have to have the categories before this monster starts eating all your servers and you can't find a damn thing anymore. I am sure it is also going to help with viewing content on all the new devices (phones, tablets, etc...) that didn't exist when you built this version of the HAMB. I am very excited to see the new the design and see how it works across all platforms. AND, thank you for the traditionally inspired categories, I feel like I have a home again.

    Gods Speed to you Sir!

Good job on the change! I was having to only go on the HAMB on my phone since it shows all the "new" threads. It was kind of a h***le on the computer with the 3 different forums and I usually just ended up going to the general discussion anyway..

I'm talking about a sub forum or whatever you call these with "traditional discussions & happenings" with build threads for both customs and hot rods like the previous update.

Ryan, I have a question, when you post a sticky at the top ie. the recent (re-focus) one, it stays for a short time and then is removed. Could the rules sticky stay permanently so it will be seen more? This may help to stop or lessen the OT posts as well as the where are the rules threads.

  22. from ryans entry today

"5. The Hokey *** Message Board - This forum hosts every thread from every forum listed above. In that way, it’s exactly as the “old” H.A.M.B. in that you can get a read of the entire forum from one place. It’s simply an aggregate."

    it still shows everything.

Sticky threads stay as long as I like. When they become unsticky, it's because I made them so.

As for off topic posts, there are two types really:

    1. Interesting off topic as defined by... well, I guess me. Something like a really cool and well done travel trailer. I'll allow those every now and then.

    2. Just off topic ****... facebook style posts... Those will be deleted immediately.

One of the things I really like about this new format is that you'll notice the "focused" forums require users to select a thread prefix. I really think this will go a long way towards limiting the ****.

The "traditional discussion and happenings" forum does not force the prefix, but we will make it so if we have to.

    Ryan,

All I have to say is that you are truely a "Moderator"! You and I both know you will never be able to satisfy everyone but giving people "choices", on where to go and read, is the best route yet. I used to be a "Never change anything that already works" type of guy. After I started designing with an electric bar of soap instead of a pencil, I now accept all things new but with a traditional feel!

    Good Job! Great Website!

I'm quite capable of determining what I'm interested in reading about so your idea of putting everything in the HAMB forum works well for me. I think maybe you have come close to doing the impossible and pleasing everyone. Good job !

Fellas... One thing I forgot to mention. Well, two actually:

    1. The Aggregate forum does not display on the mobile app. However, you can see the same look by simply tapping on the "latest" tab.

    2. Lets say you are a tech guy and all you want to see is tech stuff - no matter the period. You can do that by:

    - Go to the aggregate forum.

    - Scroll down to the bottom of the page to the "prefixes" drop down. Select "technical" from the "focused" prefixes... You will now see all of the tech posts from all of the forums.

My apologies I didn't see the forum with all of the topics on it because I'm using the app witch doesn't have it.
