I have a '64 Olds Jetstar 1, and decided to join after reading , and lurking for some time now. I actually had joined an Olds site, and mentioned some things I wanted to do with the car, and you'd think I had shot their dog or something. They were a die hard original bunch. Well, my car isn't. IT came out of an impound yard, and the transmission, radiator, A/C condensor, intake and carb all developed legs. Overall the car is in pretty good shape, and when I mentioned adding some non-stock parts, I had one guy tell me he would rather me crush the car instead of save it. So, here I am. I realized , after reading some of your posts, that you take the car hobby as just that, a hobby. And that your members appreciate hard work, and making modifications to suit you, not to try to get the correct dated, and calendar coded parts, and match the colors and overspray. That isn't me. If I want a S/B or B/B chevy in my car, that's my choice. Saving a car from the crusher should have more of an impact on the die hards instead of them overlooking your craftsmanship, and quality of work, to make snide remarks because they don't like your approach, or modifications. It's a hobby, not a museum piece, as I well know with this car, and it's going to be far from perfect. That's exactly what I want though, so we can have fun as a family, and enjoy the learning process as we build it. Anyway, I'm off my soapbox now. Glad to be here, and will check the archives for some of my questions.

Welcome from the west, enjoy the HAMB along with your 64 Olds! Yes it's true, some folks take this stuff altogether too serious, it is a hobby for most of us, and it should be enjoyed by the family, a great intro.
I had to look up Talking Rock as I've been making weekly trips up 515 from Jonesboro to my new house in Ellijay (log cabin on top of 4 car garage) and had not seen it.(3rd smallest town in GA). Welcome.
