One of the best well organized swap meets is the CSRA swap in Bristol, Ct. the parking layout is the main reason IMO. EVERY vendor has their front bumper pointed to the exit of the row they are in and you sell off the side on your van or pickup. Easy in and out, and the spots are marked with paint or a handfull of lime. Looks like you have room to pull this off, great to see all the interest from local HAMB members.

cool, im way in south by philly, but my two buddys are in boredentown so we will all go!

  9. I really want to make it down to this. I have a bunch of stuff I want to sell. Priced to sell too. Need to make room for stuff thats important...like stuff for my car.

Are the spots first come first serve?

give me a call and i'll put you on the "list"...
    overwhelming response so far,,,,,
after the first one, it'll most likely be first come first served,,
i dont want to reserve spots and then have people not show up,,

Jim, this is a great idea and it's only 20 minutes or so from my place!! I'd be into it for sure as a spectator/buyer and as a vendor every now and again. The $25 price is way fair. I don't know where some of the other guys are from, but I can't believe they would think that is a lot of money for a spot. Now about that Sept. weekend, it's my wedding anniversary that weekend so I'd probably miss the first one. I said maybe, I'll see if I can talk her into an anniversary "long walk at the swap meet". I'm so romantic. HAHA.

i was 2 weeks ago in New Jersey we have rented a car (we get a nissan ultima  ) we have driven a lot these days its so nice to see that a lot of americans have in there backyards old cars only you realy have to search before you find some old cars that realy sucks but i was happy i have found my car when we were on our way to atlantic city... parked at a local garage we have made a u-turn and stop by the gas station wat was next to the garage..

i was shocked the owner of this pickup wants 13000 Dollar for this pickup the paint was bad and even the tailgate was a different color...

  15. Great Idea. I will try to attend the inaugural event, though I have to check the date. Also will only be browsing as I don't have enough bit to sell.

    great response guys...
    measured it out today,,
there is room for about 24 vender spaces and about 10 cars for sale spots...
it'll basically be first come first served....
ive got at least 10 definite venders so far and TONS of interest

working on a flyer, shoud be ready early next week..

checked into the porta potty thing, and other expenses, and i think i will have to charge $2-$3 per person to get in,,kids will be free,,,,,i was hoping to keep it free admission, but after i started figuring expenses, i dont think i can realistlcally do that,,,,still $2-$3 is dirt cheap, in my opinion...

And, I recently heard that starting in October, eBay will no longer let you pay for items with a check or money order!?! I think this will drive a lot of guys back to swap meets for parts.

    GUYS>>>>>>>>>>>>the swap MEET is a NO-GO.
my landlord saw how many people were interested in coming and doesnt want the town to give him a hard time,,,,,,i think he misunderstood what i wanted to do, and thought it was gonna be just a get together with car guys.....

Hopefully i can figure out how to do this somehow at another location,,,,
if anyone has some ideas.let me know..

agian,,my apologies guys,,,obviously by the response i got, the idea will fly,,,,just not here.....................

If whatever town entity that would be concerned with any swap meet over by you is anything like the building department in H, it'd be 6 months after the fact that they'd even heard it was held.
I can't see much difference between a 'car meet' and a 'swap meet' WRT the town- but your landlord will likely have more knowledge here. Still, done on a weekend- esp out on Crusher, would anyone really know (obviously, LL aside)?

  23. Most of the local shows here tend to rent a state/county/town park for the day - but they also have a car show as part of the event.

I'd think about trying to find a large parking lot or field of some sort, big enough that you can divide it in two - one side for the meet, one side for parking.

  24. thompson park here in monroe/jamesburg is only 2 or 3 miles straight shot from 8a on the turnpike. Its huge, and has enough paved parking lots to expand. I know people, i can get permits.

they love car shows, i dought they wouldnt mind for a few vendors..

location location location .. keep thinking.

I didn't realize there were so many fellow NJ HAMBers.

I am located in Freehold and would definitely swing by to check things out.

I know this may be asking alot but does anyone have any cheep projects they want to get rid of, lets say in the 0-1000 dollar range?

Thanks and hope the swap meet happens it would be great to meet some fellow HAMBers.
