i love the 53 caddy caps...even moreso because they were a one year only cap....i may actually do a little color chrome on them,,maybe in the middle i was thinking..i really dont think they are too old,,,the car will have the look of a factory concept car and i think they'll look fine,,especially with polishing and fresh caddy emblems,,,,(and maybe color chrome)....

hey Jim I like the wild ideas that come from your warpped mind . Have you ever thought about a 73 t- bird roof ? Maybe to square for your designs ? keep going as people like us may be the only amercian designers left. I am really enjoying watching you work . Thanks

i think you are right,,,it would be way too square for the car,,,,(and way too new),,,keeping it period correct,,,,'58 is my cutoff date for parts,,,,:)

a few pics taken today,,,,,,,,mocked up the rear bumperettes,,,,,did a quick spray bomb job on the various pieces that were different colors, just to visually tie everything together and check for "flow".....mocked up an idea for the roof (hard to see in the pics),,,,,

sorry about the dark pictures (i need more shop lights)

Its really flowing out of the back end Jim, between the trim, door dip, quarters, they all compliment each other so well while still not having the exact same shape. Nice.

Is that rat rod black 2-toned with primer grey? Final color chioces? :D

im gonna strip it to bare metal, leave it outside for a few weeks to rust, and have some COOOOOOOOOOOOOOOL patina..or maybe ill coat it with glue and put chia pet seeds all over it and just let 'em grow.....

i think thats the goulart (dont know if i spelled that right,,,doubt it,,hahah) shoebox (built by winfield maybe??),,,,i agree with you the louvers can look cool on a kustom,,,,,,,,something just tells me to keep 'em,,,,dont know why,,,,,,,so far everything ive done is just where my mind has led me,,,,,i know the car won't appeal to everyone,,,but what car does?....there were lots of times people said "but that was a lot of work,,,i cant believe you are gonna change it"...the way i think,,why settle for something the way it is, if you think you can make look even better by changing it? i don't want to question myself when the car is done,,and say "maybe i shoulda have done this or maybe i shoulda done that"...

Couldn't agree with this statement more Jim. Why leave something you are not happy with just for the sake of saying it is done? I have changed so many things on my truck since I have started some because I have become a better fabricator as I go and some because I just don't like the way things turned out. Building cars is a lot of work and I think it would be hugely dissapointing to finish and look at the result and not be happy with it.

I really like the look you finally:D seem to have zeroed in on. It is the best you have come up with so far! Keep the updates coming.

Hey Jimmy, looks like it is changing again. You have enough ideas to build a few cars. I like the last look for the rear but I like the buick trim on there now.

thanks mike,,,,the buick trim was an important piece of the puzzle,,,,really works much better than my original idea for side trim,,,the shape really works in harmony with the rest of the shapes of the car (wheelwells, door swoop, quarter swoop, etc)..if you are ever in the neighborhood, stop by and check it out in person...

I saw Jims car in person earlier this week. I gotta say, for anyone whos doubting this thing, the pictures dont do it complete justice... The proportions are spot on in person, its really amazing and its going to be so killer when its done!
