At the end of this month, April 27, 28, 29 the ECTA will hold its first Hotrod Shoot out and measured mile time’s event. This is being held at the old Wilmington, OH ABX Airport. It has a paved 9,000 ft. airstrip.ffice:eek:ffice" />
I will be attending with my old '40 coupe and will be trying to set a class record. (without embarrassing myself) Remember, I half to drive it home so hopefully it won't be going home on a hook!
Hope to see you all there!
My class will be XO/VGC

You're correct. The class is open. I guess I can start at about 90mph and go from there. I've had the car up to 100 in the past.

I guess all the ECTA records are open since they left Maxton. Sweet car. Got some engine pics?

yes, XO class states any inline four, six or eight. XXO is the same except for the 12 port head addition.
The sound is very vintage, like a pack of mad bees!

I happen to have an ECTA rulebook and it states the same as the SCTA, the engine in the XO class must be 1959 or earlier in design - page 14, 2nd paragraph.

The 292 does not meet that crieteria.

I thought the 1959 was for the car body. What class would it be in? The motor is a 1970 vintage.

14. Engine architecture newer than 59 puts you in regular displacement classes for the engine.

From the SCTA/ECTA Rule Book, my 292 powered 1940 Chevy Coupe would be classified to run in D/VGC. D Class (261-305 Cubic inch) Vintage Gas Coupe

I'll give it the old "College" try and see what happens. I'll keep all posted on the out come.
Thanks for all of your comments. It's a very nice cruiser especially during the August nights in southern Ohio...with the A/C on!!!

Yes, a half mile runup, timed mile course then a just short of a half mile cool down. Not sure if it has a runoff area at the end. It does have 2 turn outs before the end.

Will your car be in a Street class? I know the safety rules ( head restraint, upholstery, fuel and electric shut off, roll cage, fire system) for the SCTA is kind of hard to do in a street driven car.

ECTA run street and super street classes. You can run TO underm 130MPH with minimum of saftey equipment. If your running gas classes you will need roll cage, seatbelt and sholder harness, fire extinguisher, helmet and firesuit.

It's a standing start mile with about 9/10ths shut down. Just like it was in Maxton.

What a bad ass inline, I bet it does sound like a nest of mad bees. Those exhaust cans should echo like crazy. Good luck with the record attempt. ~sololobo~

26. RapRap..question? You did pre enter didn't you as the entry limit was reached some time ago...it's not like a drag strip, you can't just drive up and race..Not trying to give you a hard time, just don't want you to be disappointed if you didn't.

I pre registered back in Feb. I asked for the "03" number and they said it was not registered. They said I might have to change the number to something more in sequence once i get there. No biggie.

I think your going to get a first class education in the SCTA safety rules to run that class unless your just doing a time only deal. You will be amazed at all the stuff you dont have. The D class also puts you in the home of the big dogs. Hope things work out Ok for you
