This is exactly what's gone wrong with the "street rod" magazine market; one or two mags do a great job of covering tech and the scene, they make some money, so then they hire better writers and do an even better job of covering the scene, etc, etc.

So then every other publisher from here to hell launches their own new "best rod mag yet" and dilute the advertising income of the first magazines so that they then have to cut knowledgable senior staff and pander to the "red 32" dreamers to hold circulation up. So everybody loses a little.

Foot notes: 1. yes, you are a "market" - if you have a buck in your pocket and dream in your head. 2. apologies to owners of red '32's (or is it black now?), tri-5 Chevys or any Camaro - but those cars on a cover sell more magazines than anything else.

But hey, you're readin' the future of this hobby, the Journal ain't trying to sell us nothin that we don't come looking for. And we all get to be the writers (for better or worse).

NO MORE MAGS!!!!!!!!!!!!! There is enough out there and do a great job. I love Rolls&Pleats, being it has coverage outside of the U.S. I like Garage being that it has a different flair other than just covering cars. Brings back the '50's-'60's and '70's era (thank god not the '80's) and makes it stand out from just a traditional car mag. Last one I buy too is Rod&Custom. I don't buy the others being that I see enough "ratrods and goldchainer" cars at the shows. "nuff" said. KNUX!

When you see a car mag and it says"tattoos"or"kustom kulture",i'm out! If I want to see tattoos,i'll buy a tattoo mag. You shouldn't have to put tattoos on the cover to draw in car guys. Real car guys are gonna be attracted to the articles and the quality of the cars.

Garage isn't a car magazine... It's a lifestyle magazine.. kinda like Maxim for s***bags...

That being said, here are the car magazines I read:

    1. TRJ (best car magazine every published in my opinion)
    2. Hop Up (my favorite read)
    3. Rod & Kulture (these guys continuously improve)
    4. Church: Cars, Not Culture

Post the rest of your favorite mags so Jesse can see you enjoy reading more than the list shown.

    Thanks, RGV

Garage might not be a "car"mag but it's certainly interesting, and it features HAMBers.I would expect some coverage of the LONESTAR ROUNDUP in the future issues too.At least they are HAMBers not some media conglomerate.I really enjoyed the article on Cherry Martini, great to see someone turn life around,it's not easy. Also really related to the feature on Eve Crane, having been a part of an H.A.race team myself, and seen the "family and friends' side of that world. Thanks Stoner & Jesse.
