Hello all! I am a new member to HAMB. Just bought a 1931 Model A Coupe that is bone stock. I intend to do a mild Traditional Rod with a few changes from stock; wheels/tires/ hydraulic lincoln brakes, v-8 flathead and then try to put in a modern tranny with overdrive since I live two hours from civilization.

I used to be into AMC muscle. Owned and restored AMX's, Javelins, Rebels and Americans for 20 years. Then got out of the hobby and bought a Dodge Viper. I got the itch again so I will sell the Viper and get back in the hobby. I am a little concerned abut this project since I have zero experience with this era of car. I am hoping to rely upon the community of members here for info and support.

First question: I am considering keeping the 19 inch model A wheels and putting the fattest tires possible on the rear. What is the fattest 19 inch tire that will fit on the 3 x 19 rims and still be safe driving? Please advise me if you have pictures or experience or refer me to an existing thread on the matter (searched and couldn't find one) . As an alternative, I am considering the 19 inch wire wheels from Coker which have a 4.5 inch rim width but I would prefer to keep the "A" Rims. Thanks in advance.

Welcome, lots of info here just takes some looking. I think your build would be referred to as a AV8.
