Hello all. Decided I probably need to join here after several months of lurking and reading. I'm also an active member over on P15-D24.com (great bunch for any pre/post-war Mopar owners)

For me the hobby re-started about six months ago with the rescue of this 1947 Plymouth Deluxe from a barn in Kansas. According to the seller, it had been sitting for the better part of 20 years. It's not a complete original "survivor" car, I think more like a car that was restored in the 1980s or maybe 1990s and just sat. Hadn't been started in years, gas tank was rotted out, no battery.

It took surprisingly little effort to get it running. Changed all fluids, spark plugs, new fuel pump, new water pump, new gas tank and it roared to life. After rebuilding the carb & distributor and a little tuning, runs smooth as silk. Thoroughly flushed the brake system and it works great. Underneath all that dirt was surprisingly good looking paint. There is some evidence that at least parts have been repainted, but it's lacquer paint and cracking in spots as old lacquer does, so who knows how long ago it was painted.

This is no garage queen for me - I drive this car almost every day.

Welcome aboard! Wow, that cleaned up nicely. I love those '46-'48 Plymouths. I've owned two of them over the years.

Nice! What part of Kansas are you in? How many miles are on it?

It is surprisingly good for sitting in a barn for 20 years. Thank God the mice didn't get into it!

Definitely. There was a heckuva rats next under one of the seats, loads of leaves and whatnot, but nothing eaten up really, just needed a good cleaning. I live in the county just outside Wichita.
