Good evening! My name is Scott and I am a 2nd generation street rodder here in GA. I have a driver 1928 Model A sedan that we drive most days and a 1929 Model A roadster that my dad and I had been building together up until his passing in July 2024; now I am working to complete that father-son project as a father-daughter project with my own kiddo. Our driver 1928 is a build from the 1990s. It has no door handles and we get in the car using a remote to roll down the driver's window to reach in and open the door. A few months ago, the window started stoping and starting to roll down. Then, it just stopped working. We replaced the batteries in both key fobs to rule those out. The windows work fine using the controls inside the car. So, I assume it is the receiver box. Being it is an older build I'm struggling to find a replacement. Does anyone know who may have made the receiver (it wont let me post pics) or of a resource that may refurbish what we have? Im a little skittish about wiring in a different unit. The part is a black plastic box with no manufacturer anywhere in or on the box. It DOES have a part number: P6B131
You'd be better off wiring in a different unit...preferably one from a company that is proud enough to put their name on it.... for example: https://www.dakotadigital.com/index.cfm/page/ptype=product/product_id=91/mode=prod/prd91.htm
Welcome from beautiful downtown Cleveland, Tennessee. Good intro. I believe you'll be able to post pictures when you have 10 posts under your belt. You'll get some good answers then. Please select full image when you post your pics.
I’ll add to what Alan said, the page you’re on in for pre-66 inspired builds, so if the car isn’t in the era, look for the OffTopic forum, otherwise your post could get locked, deleted or moved there anyways.
Welcome to the HAMB from Illinois. Remember to think of the receiver in the car as a switch. Unlike a toggle switch, where you move the toggle, your remote moves the toggle. I've used one like this to control my trunk lift. It should work to control your power window motor. https://www.amazon.com/Wireless-Rem...emote+control+for+winch&qid=1731277103&sr=8-7 I have a relay to power the lift, this wireless switch operates the relay. Many Rodders wire a hidden switch to function as you want.
The last system of that type I installed the "box" only controlled relays. If that's the only function that's giving problems you may have a relay issue.
Welcome, you will like it here. Why don't you put some original door handles back on the car. Hot rods look much cooler with door handles in my opinion. Glen
Thanks, everyone! The remote controls just the driver window. I think I am going to update/upgrade the remote components and also wire a hidden switch to access the car should this happen again. Also, gonna change the location of the receiver to make it more easily accessible in the future. Thanks again!
Welcome, Balls Rod Custom sold a lot of that type of stuff in the 90's, maybe try and search for them.
