Hi I'm Jed I'm 19 years old and I should have done an intro sooner but time hasn't been on my side. Anyway I'm new to the hamb and I bought a 1950 dodge coronet this summer it still has the original flathead in it (and it runs). I bought it because I joined the auto club at UW-Stout and I decided I liked old cars. Slight problem with the brakes yet but I'm hoping to get it figured out. Oh yeah Tuck and Mel told me that I should say that I know them so now you know who I know. (try sayin that three times fast.) I also bought a 1974 International Scout 4x4 today for 400 bucks and it runs and drives so I'm in a good mood. Anyway here's a pic of the coronet its not a good pic but I hope it helps.
Thanks Lanny, its good to find someone who knows who I know. and likewise if you know Tuck and Mel you must be kool.
Welcome to our place. You'll have a blast here.Yer car looks kewl.I like those big phat dodges.Great to see another young guy gettin some rust in his blood!.....Shiny
"rust in his blood" I like that but to be honest I've needed a couple tetines(how the hell is that word spelled) shots in my life before I started messin with cars.
I dunno.......Frisky is cool but that Tuck guy is a little shady................. Velkommen!!!!!! How long does it take to poach an egg?
Welcome aboard. you should feel good that you said the right things and didn't get roasted like some have.
Hey Jed, welcome aboard. You got hooked up with a great bunch of folks there. Stout Auto Club rules! Get those brakes in order and come meet up with lots of HAMB folks at the Hunnert Car Pileup next month.
HEY JED! You made it! He's a blast to have around.... you're the cooooolest! You'll find loads of good people and info on this board! ~Melissa
Welcome. My last fix up was a 74 4x4 scout too. I love scouts Now I've got a 53 Buick. I miss my scout. enjoy.
Nice start. Say hi the the girls on 3rd Keith for me will ya? Damn there were some nice chicks there about 20 years ago. And stay away from triple cripple if they still have it.
Jed! Jed your car rocks... It started on fire once... can we tell the story??? Seriously Jed yer a cool guy !! 19yrs old right??? NEW BLOOD for real... so we gotta keep him on track! Glad you joined on JEdster... see ya around CAMPUS dodge boy... i can smell your breaks! Tuck
Geeze, now my feelings are hurt. I take credit for being the single greatest influence in young Jed's life, and I don't even get mentioned? I'm gonna go home and cry
So I hear I haven't gotten roasted like some people whew thats a relief. I should have told yah about my shiznit 96 toyota supra with NOS and all that other ****. Yeah I'm kidding I don't have a supra or any of those rice burning chunks of plastic. As far as the brakes on my old dodge go though I think I just need to bleed em but they have gotten so hot they have locked up before. I think its because the master cylinder isn't releasing like it should but it seems to me that the right rear wheel gets hot first so if anyone has any ideas on why that is please let me know. but right now the problem is that the brake fluid leaked out of the master cylinder and the pedal will almost hit the floor before the brakes hit. I think there is some air in the lines. Anyway my scout had air in the lines and bleeding the lines on that worked (I know my scout isn't a "traditional" hot rod but for $400 it makes a helluva good four wheeler) plus I will no longer mention the scout on the Hamb unless someone asks me about it. (which I doubt will happen) Anyway with that huge dialogue there I just have one more thing to say LIVE FROM NEW YORK ITS SATURDAY NIGHT. well its more of a monday but thats what I get when I try to be funny.
AW JEEZ Tank (Bugman) Where would I be without you? I would have mentioned yah but MEL! didn't tell me to mention you. so blame her just kidding Mel plus I didn't know you had time to read the HAMB bein a bigshot shop teacher an all.
Tuck if you want to tell the story of the infamous "DODGE Fire" be my guest. If you forget a part let me know and I'll be happy to tell the story.
Funny El Caballo you must do stand-up. but JDB is just my initials which stand for Jedediah Daniel **** (yes my last name really is ****)
Sorry for doing so many posts in a row but so many things need to be said. As far as My plans for it I am hoping to get it running and driving mostly. By the way it has the old Gyro-matic (fluid drive) transmission. Then I'm gonna either put the fender chrome back on or take the chrome on the doors off (depending on whats easier at the time) then I'm going to either try to bring the black paint back to life or paint the body a steal-me red color (maybe a dark Blue)and leave the top black. Long term plans would be to find a decent flathead and rebuild it (I could rebuild the one I have in it but it runs anyway and I don't want to take it out until I have another one ready to put in) and put either a dual or tri carb intake on it. Or better yet if I can find a dual 2 bbl carb intake for it (Ive seen one before and only one) I would do that. If flatheads become scarce or if I decideI can't get the power I want out of them I'll throw a hemi in it and do a full disk brake conversion (which I might do anyway) but the only thing that separates me from all these things would be money I'm sure a lot of you can agree with that.
Jed, I thought that mentioning Bugman would've come naturally to ya... shop teachers of America unite! (or future ones, in your case) ~Melissa
Nice Dodge! I just finished building a '49 wayfarer sedan. It has '50 fenders, hood and decklid on it. They may be tough to find parts for, but I've never ran into another car like mine at a show. Check it out @ http://groups.msn.com/SmithsWayfarer
