Hi everyone, my name is Jody Smith. I am from Grand Rapids Michigan. I am 25 years old and have been messing with cars or trucks in some way since I could drive. I am a member Negative Camber truck club and currently have a 1998 S10 that is completely shaved, suicide doors, sectioned full size chevy bumper molded into the fenders, bagged, channeled 5 inches, runs on 18's and 20's and is powered by a LT1 Vette engine. I am just now getting into the older cars. I just bought a 1954 Chevy BelAir Hardtop. Plans for that includes a chop top, section the body, bags, a small block and some steelies with wide whites. Im sure you guys will be hearing lots from me with all the questions Ill be having on the 54.

Oh boy, you shouldn't have mentioned the mini-truck in your first post. You're gunna take a load of***** for that one... But don't worry, RF outed me right away and I caught a load of***** in my intro as well. But you'll knock everyone's*****s in the dirt with the 54 judging by the work you did on your previous project. Welcome to the HAMB - from one NC guy to another.

Welcome Jody. I'm sure we all can appreciate the work that went in to the truck, but that kind of ride is not what were about here. Now, the '54, THAT'S what we wanna see and hear about! And pics, lot's of pics. Your car, your dog, your naked wife/girlfriend (or both, we won't tell), anything, we just like pictures.
Hope you can make it to Billetproof, there'll be a lot of Michigan HAMBers there.

  9. Hey Kid
Looks like you're headed in the right direction. The '54 will be easier to work with than the S-Truck. You'll enjoy it.

    Welcome Jody

Dont let these guys bust your balls to much on the s-10. They all have lots of bag questions and you know who they turn to for answers. [IMG] Although not a member of NC I do roll every where with the Ohio chapter. Im sure we will cross pathes soon if we have not already.

You think that's strange, wait until you see Jake Moomey's 34 Ford Pickup! That thing is taking shape quickly, and since he is short you can imagine what kind of chop and channel job he's done on it. Jake and "Bike Mike even flew out to California to go to Paso with me this year.

Yeah Mike I will agree with you that my truck WAS a**************, Ill definatly agree with that, it has come a LONG way since you've seen it last. http://www.sportruck.com/events/sf04/5.html Here is link to some pics of it from Greenville, where 3 different magazines wanted to shot it. I dont why there always has to be this bad blood, I have no problems with you at all, I respect your abilities as fabricator, your work speaks for itself. The issues we had were from 5 years ago, I was young and immature, Ive done alot of growing up since then. Ive learned alot in that time. As far as the whole fad comment, like you hinted at, you were into the minitruck thing just as much as anyone else, its not a fad thing, its the appreciation of all different types of customs. Hell my 02 Silverado is lifted 12 inches with 38 inch super swampers if that says anything, I just love cars and trucks. But anyhow, I wish whatever the issues are here we can just resolve them.

Hey kustombuilder, just because you hopped on here first from your days as a mini-trucker doesn't give you the right to be overly rude when someone else decides to step up and customize something built before they were born. And as far as calling someone's truck hacked up, you might want to take a look at how it turned out as compared as to what it looked like when it was spending time under the roof of your shop...

In other words, cut the kid some slack because you're making yourself look like an****hole.

    Love,

camberMI,Don't know you but if you are anything like the way you come across in this post I would say even at 25 it takes a MAN to admit he f'ed up in the past and try to reconcile with folks he may have wronged. Hope the differences can be worked out.Don't know what it was, aint none of my biz anyhow. That said, Welcome from Oklahoma.

  22. You know, most sporting goods stores sell some nice, heavy (14 oz. ?) boxing gloves and mouthpieces for a pretty decent price. I think that would solve a ton of the interpersonal problems I see day to day. No one really gets hurt because the gloves are so heavy they're hard to swing hard, and they're nice and beefy on the padding. Sometimes its just good to beat the***** out of someone without really beating the***** out of someone. You gain this respect for each other, kinda like the kid you used to always fight in school and then run into each other later in life and you're friends. The minitrucker in rehab dude sounds like he's genuinely making an effort to be cool, 'course no one knows the situation but you two. But if all else fails, try the gloves. No guilt, no legal troubles, just a good workout.

HAMBER fight night, now there's an idea.

i gotcha holmes, it was a long time ago. i really am over it but i've needed to bust your balls a little for a long time, it's a closure thing, ya know? [IMG]
i'll spare the rest of the HAMB the petty details of the whole thing. my comments where all ment to be pretty much light hearted anyway, i knew it would'nt look that way to most but i figured you'd (Jody) get it. the Fad comment especially, that was just me ribbin ya. you know i've been into hot rods since BIRTH and i was always givin***** about my old cars by the minitruck crew (in a light hearted manner), i was just givin them all a little of that back with the fad comment.

G V Gordon is right, it does take a big man to admit what you did, i respect that alot and by you saying that it really does quash any shred of hard feelings i may have had left.

hey, if it was'nt for the minitruck thing (and for the motor blowing up in my dually on the way to a mini truck show) i would have never met my wife. (HMM, is that good or bad?? [IMG] just kiddin hun [IMG]...guess i'm not getting any tonight [IMG]) i have and always have had respect for all types of automotive restyling, as long as the workmanship and design are quality, even if something is'nt "my style", but i've had a love for old cars that stems back as far as i can remember, and i honestly don't know where it comes from, not one person in my family has ever been into old cars like i have been. hell, i started out with a 66 Beetle when i was 13, took autobody classes when i was 15 (did'nt even get my license till i was almost 17), had one of every year Chevy truck from 68-72, a 63 Impala, a 62 Bel Air, a V8 Monza, a 73 and a 70 Nova SS, all before i bought my new 95 S10 SS "mini truck" and hooked up with the mini truck crowd (at a hot rod cruise no less). i'm glad i did, i made a bunch of friends, most of which i am still close to even though i have moved an hour and a half away from them.

so, don't anyone take my comments on this thread too personaly or too seriously.

oh yeah, now that that is all behind us i expect you to make it out to the Hot Rod Rumble on July 3rd right here at my house. it will not be an "organized" event this year, there are no fees, no Ts (shirts that is) and no rules, which means you can bring your minitruck if the 54 is'nt running. you can take a look at the 50 Chevy i'm choppin (it belongs to Donzie) and my 47 Chevy i just got, along with my "FnA" (or what there is of it so far [IMG]). see ya there...

    Thats funny.

I was an old skool mini-trucker back in the late 80's and early 90's. In fact I remember Negative Camber. They were a bunch of stuck up, "im better than you", buy my car into the magazine****holes. The rich little Hollywood kids and thier attitudes drove me out...into reality....then I woke up and moved on w/ life. I look back at those same guys, and they are a bunch of strung out loosers....too bad........NOT!!! [IMG]

Hopfuly your not one of those types, and from reading your posts, it looks like your pointing in the right direction. Blow the truck and dump the dough into a real car that holds value, tradition and the true meaning for the love of cars...or tin...or steel...(you get the point)

It DOES take a man to admit to himself and others. (shakes your hand)

Welcome to the HAMB, and get ready to get dirty, its alot of work that will soon be appreciated!!!!
