Hello all you guys out there. I'm new here. I registered a few weeks ago but have been to busy to surf. Been rebuilding an accident damaged 2003 Renault Clio I brought home from work for my wife. My name is Edward, I am a fleet supervisor for a car rental fleet and live with my wife and two year old son in Bavaria in southern Germany. However I'm not German, I'm English. The Renault is distracting me from my normal pastime which is building my 1929 Ford roadster pickup. You can see an as found picture on my website www.edwardlloyd.de where you will also be able to surf through about 1500 pictures of classic cars in various junkyards from Wisconsin to Italy. My Ford started out as Tudor but was converted into a tractor in 1940 as Germany was at war and private cars were confiscated for the army. I found the car 2 years ago in a barn about a mile from my house and have been converting it into a early fifties hotrod since then. The car was pretty rough so it's as much a restoration as a conversion and therefore is taking awhile. I have a '39 transmission, '36 rear banjo, a '57!!, yes '57, German military Ford flathead V8 with a WC4B intake manifold from 1952. However it's all got to be built together first. I've '40 brakes, and '41 spindles and a dropped beam up front. The car is channeled the width of the frame and I'm retaining the original tank. The car is also a kind off resto-rod. It's fifties style but everything is in as-new condition. No rat rod then. It's going to be gloss black with, black leather interior, black cloth roof and red spoked wheels. The car has a shortened frame and will therefore have a short pickup bed. If I can work out how to post a picture small enough I will.
    Greetings from Germany

  3. Welcome to the Hamb. Looks like you and your car will fit in here just fine, glossy paint or not. We can always use another car crazy here. Nice pics on your site. Living in farm country I can always appreciate a model A tractor. Pat.

I really like the white trash birds in the Gilly's Scrap Yard pictures on your website.
I enjoyed looking at the endless stream of*****ty cars you've owned. The Vauxhall Viva being the worst.
    Welcome, I'm glad you're here.

Thats the wall in my garage. I covered it with German license plates. Got several hundred from work. They reflect the light pretty good.

I Nads, I may have had a stream of*****ty cars as a student and when I was starting off buts thats where I learnt about cars. These days I get a brand new car every six months. Perks of the job. Here's my latest. Working in car rental changes your perspective. A 12 month old car is archaic, a three month old, is getting on a bit. _Up to four weeks old we call 'em new. Hey guess who makes all those nice "nearly new used cars"??

I bit of sarcasm won't hurt. Maybe you'll learn a bit of british humour. (Yep, spelt with a "u"). Of course I'm not using Model-A rims. I gave all the running gear to a mate of mine who built a two door phantom pheaton out of it. Finished it in a year too, although he had to source all parts. Respect to him.
