I am a life long car nut since buying my first car, a Model A Town Sedan, when I was 14 years old and a freshman in high school. The Model A was soon traded for a 1931 Chevy woody station wagon and everyone in my little town of Modesto thought that I was a surfer from Santa Cruz, CA. The ladies all loved it and I thought I was in Graffiti heaven!!! Well, fast forward about 50 years and I'm still wrenching and rolling. I recently retired leaving me free to pursue the hobby full time. When I was younger I belonged to several different car clubs. However I have not been able to locate a club locally that involves the traditional kinds of home built cars and hot rods that were so popular back in the 1960's. Most of the local clubs consist primarily of people whom seem to have a lot of resources and end up owning hot rods that are built by professional builders for huge sums of money. Unfortunately I am not in that mega bucks category and would like****ociate and hang out with car builders that attempt to do most of their own work with limited resources. I would greatly appreciate it if some of you HAMB'ers out there could share any information that you might have about car clubs in my local area, the Central Valley of California, that focus on home buiilt traditional hot rods. I attend Billetproof and Midnite Mass but the clubs I come into contact with at those shows are located primarily in Sacramento or the Bay Area. So, if you know of or are familair with the type of club I am looking for from Fresno to Sacramento please drop me a line and let me know. Attending shows and wrenching on cars is always so much more enjoyable when done with friends!!! Thanks in advance for any help! Wilkiedee
