Started my first restoration project a couple months ago (my OWN, I've helped out with many restorations in the past) It's a 1953 Buick Super 2-Door Hardtop, Original 322 Nailhead 12V (Runs & Drives, a little rough) So far, installed new front floors & toe boards then sealed w/ POR-15; sanded entire car down to bare metal (some headlight eyebrow rust, nothing major), cleaned up engine, new gaskets & plugs, carb cleaned, brand new gas tank & sending unit, new 12V battery.... some other odds & ends. I came across my first problem; fluid leak under dash on p***enger side, pretty sure its radiator water/coolant. The ONLY way I've been able to stop it from leaking is to turn dash heater control to full ON position. If I turn that heater control OFF, leak starts up again. (I also think having the heater control in ON position constantly is draining my battery all the time. Needs help! Will post pics, and will start becoming very active on this forum... I could use the years of expertise on this site. Thanks. Rob in Phoenix
Great looking Buick from another Buick guy...I have a 48 convert. 56C. Your leak sounds like the heater control valve. You can have it rebuilt or replace it for additional money. Let me know if you decide to rebuild it and I'll send you the company that did mine.
