I finally got a few hours in on the car today!! It's time to tackle the rear bumper sides... I've been dreading this part for awhile... Mainly because I didn't know what or how I was gonna do it, but I gotta do it. After taking the bumper on and off I marked where I wanted to cut it. I stared at it for awhile trying to figure out how to go about cutting it... So I just cut it knowing I'll have to fix it. Then I put the bumper back on, started bending some round bar to make a frame to match the bumper curves. Then tacked it in place. Then I started playing with my new shrinker and stretcher, and before you know it I had a couple panels ready to be tacked on. That's all I got done today. I'm relieved to know It's working lol. I still have to trim the bottom side and shape panels then fully weld it all. Then repeat on the other side. I believe this is one of the last mods before I section and build the front!!

I wish I had a tig!! I'm not welding anything on the bumper. Leaving it completely stock. I did have to grind some of it away tho to fit the taillights.

 

I want a TIG also, just some advice to have the chrome match your bodywork. Bob

Today I got the bottom side shaped and tacked in place. It was really hard to get a photo of this. Then I put the bumper back on to see if it fit. I'm pretty happy with the way it fits. I need to trim the bumper a little and lots of welding and grinding, but I think it'll be ok. Here's a photo of the fitment under the car. I like the way it gave the car a whole new bottom. Completely different than it was. Here's a couple photos with the bumper on and one taillight in place just because I got excited. Still a ton to do, but I'm happy with the way it's looking. And I've never seen this done like this before. What do you guys think so far?

 

Looks fine to me, is it too early to be thinking about the color choice? Bob

Color choice? Probably green into yellow into a hard orange into a little red lol
