Hello there, I'm Jason, live in Southern Oregon. I've always wanted to build a hot rod, but it's pretty hard to find parts/pieces or even a complete body around here... I finally came across what the previous owner told me was a 30 Chevy Pickup. Just the cab, doors, roof, panels, hood and radiator. I got it all for $250. Someone else had told me that it's a 31, but I'm not sure. I dont have a ***le for it, can anyone confirm what year it is? Anyway, I'm a welder/fabricator for a living, so I don't think I'll have too much trouble making stuff, but my problem right now is I just dont know where to start? Do I start with the body, and get it all together, put a floor in it etc? Or do I start with a frame and some rolling stock? I was thinking of modifying a small truck frame like **** Dean did with his 32 Ford coupe "kit cars", using a Datsun 620 frame... I've done a little research, and some people don't like the look of using an S10 frame with a fenderless rod because the front suspension looks bad exposed, but looking at the picture of the **** Dean ford coupe, the Datsun stuff actually looks pretty good to me... Any info someone can give me would be much appreciated. Glad to be here!
