Hey all. I'm RatTruck. I live in the hottest area known to man, AZ. I am starting my journey in the world of hot rods. I always thought of hot rods as the trailer queens you always see on "American Hot Rod" or TV commercials. A buddy of mine introduced me to the Hamb and I have been a fan for a couple of months. I am looking to build a '39 Chevy PU. My vision is to chop and section the body, Z the fram to drop it, channel the body, IFS front, Currie rearend, and powered by an outrageous 472ci Caddy motor with a Tremec TKO 5 speed following close behind. This project is to have the rat look with a steardy frame and powerful drivetrain. Paint scheme...........Primer Gray baby! With some accented scallops or pinstrips. Something I also thought about was an old Suburban frame, a '39 sedan body with the trunk chopped off and a box behind for sort of a extended cab look. Not sure though, I like that I would not have to chop or section the sedan body but I also like the idea of just a standard cab truck. Only time and the rod can tell me. Great to be a HAMBer.

No, I am serious. I am not into hot rods so I can put it in a trailer and wait for a show to take it out. And spend more time dusting it with my quit little "show car" dust mop from pep boys. I am building it to drive. I am building it with a rat rod influence.

Yes I do, but that is not what I was inferring. You see the sedan body without the trunk and a truck bed would fit on a suburban frame without having to stretch the frame. Less work you know.

i'm just tired of people thinking primered cars are the only cars that you can drive down the road. when i paint my '57 it wont stop me from driving it. right now it's grey sealer with a white top, i get sick of people telling me "COOL RAT ROD MAN!!" my car is not a rat rod it's slowly becoming a traditionaly styled mild custom. not trying to be a **** i'm just tired of people thinking rat rod and traditonal is the same thing.

I know me, I may paint it in the future. I just don't plan on spending a large amount of money on the paint job. I use to feel like putting a good amount of money into every facet of the project but I would much rather spend more time enjoying it than maintaining it.
