Just can't seem to look at anything without wanting to turn it into a modified somehow, well a week ago I was cruising craigslist and just for kicks searched the "R" word in places I don't usually search and this little job popped up, well a pot of coffee and a phone call later and it was mine. Of course the first order of business was to start some changes, removing a lot of "new" stuff and replacing it with slightly used stuff haha. Here's a few pics. of the progress? So far. new \'28 rpu.jpg new mod 008 (640x480).jpg new mod 016 (640x480).jpg new mod 017 (640x480).jpg new mod 1 004 (640x480).jpg new mod 1 010 (640x480) (2).jpg new mod 1 020 (640x480).jpg mod 2 003 (640x480).jpg

    Thats a cool little project!
Did get thrown for a loop though when I looked at the last interior picture.
Thats when I noticed the sprockets. First thing I thought was how dangerous it was to offset the column with an open chain drive...especially in that location!
THEN I started thinking how much pedal room the chaindrive was taking away! Crazy!
Then it hit me the car was being driven like this and I see no pedals. WTF???

Then a cold bucket of realization poured over my head and I had a great laugh at things...which I really need right now!

You got me...and you weren't even trying!!! LOL

Man from here that's some pretty minimal tweaking for such a better look! Cool man :)

  9. Around here when you plug in the word "rat" in a C-list search, it usually gets you just that.... rats. C-list around here blows chunks. Everyone's P.O.S. is worth 5K, and everyone listing their trash knows EXACTLY what it's worth.

I love those gauges and panel

  11. It looks much better without the PU bed. And the dash insert is very nice.

I'm trying to decide which gauge panel to use I have another one with a little more patina I'll add a pic. Thanks for the positive feedback, I was told the rear panel was pheaton but it doesn't look quite right to me. If anyone has a 10 gal. old Moon tank sitting around I need one, and a roadster seat while I'm at it. new mod 1 009 (640x480).jpg

I'm not sure what the plan was with the wiring but it needs some attention for sure.

Just another example of how a term can and is, misused. Great score!

Thanks (again) I really like this one and whoever built it did a really nice job I would think he may be on here judging from the way it's done. It came from southern Maine so maybe not too far from you.

The wiring kit was a little overboard for this car it will go in the parts sale pile. Just have to find a cool old gas tank for it now.

When you at least sell the wiring, it comes with EZ instructions for installation:D

To a lot of people around here, it seems, there are 2 kinds of old cars: "street rods" and "rat rods". Sometimes you get good search results with "rat rod", but you almost always get disappointed with "hot rod". Good Luck:)

Well I'm sure this will get called the "R" word quite often but that's ok.

  29. That thing is sweet. Like it a lot.
Kinda partial to the vintage hot rod truck thing. If it were mine I'd probably keep the bed....

I think if the wheelbase was long enough for the wheels to be in the middle of the box it would have looked ok but they were too far forward to fit the box.
