Yes, he should drive it right. ;)

When breaking in an engine I tell people to make sure it's always doing some work.

Not idling around or cruising lightly, but make sure the engine's under a load both accelerating and decelerating. Don't let it freewheel and don't let it lug, and don't thrash it.

DO NOT do the racer's "run-it-up-to 4000rpm-10-times" break in, unless the engine is thoroughly warmed up first, and not by idling. You must drive it under a bit of load.

Well, its fixed!! The valve seals which are O rings on these were a little hard and a new set fixed it!!:D Now I love the car again and am not ashamed to drive it. At least it was a relatively easy fix. Thanks for all the input on the problem.

Well played! And thanks for reporting back on your progress. :D

I'll bet it was a combination of valve seals AND getting the new rings seated in. How many miles did you drive it till the smoke cleared up?

The smoke cleared up immediately after the new seals were installed, didn't even have to drive it!

Never doubted that valve seals could be the problem, just wanted to weigh out all the options before I started tearing it apart. Thanks
